  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Does cussing offend you?

Yes, it's offensive. It's meant to be offensive. It's vulgar.

Some of you folks are about a billion miles out of touch. I don't know where you guys grew up but it musta been awful for you. Kids probably know more swear words than you do :rotflmao:

I find it highly amusing that swearing in front of kids pisses adults off far more than it bothers the kids. They don't give a shit. Could it just be that adults have some kind of false sense of "innocence" for kids? Please. When I was growing up, the kids I knew all cussed like sailors. Not that they had the approval of their parents. They weren't stupid kids either. They just didn't care what people think.

I guess people are just so immune to swearing. They see it in movies and tv and read books. For me, I think it is very rude to swear.

I'm one of those people who uses fuck as an adjective, noun, and verb. However, I've learned to control it (mostly) I never cuss in front of kids or in the office at court simply b/c the secretary hates my often used phrase, "fucking ass mother fucker" as in "that fucking ass mother fucker lawyer, failed to serve the other attys."

I honestly don't see how people express themselves w/o cussing but it's admirable indeed.

No, I do not have the time to waste energy being offended at others, they will have to take care or it themselves.

But this morning I took my car for service, and the nearest breakfast restaurant was a small bar. I walked in a 8 o'clock and guess I was a bit surprised to see nne people sitting in small groups around the bar and a bar maid waiting on them.

After aclimating to the TV in the background, I realized I was not in Shep world anymore. The conversation was laced not with cussing, but the f**k work. Every third, fourth or fifth word was either, fuck, fucking or mother fucker. It has been years since I ventured into a bar. Most of them seemed oblivious to what they were doing, the drinking the smoking and the language. It was a social scene that is not my usual daily round.

Drinking and smoking for breakfast? Coffee no doubt. Isn't the f**k work(sic?) considered cursing?

I don't enjoy hearing loud "cussin" in inappropriate places....but in most bars I guess you should expect it.
