Does it bother you to "do nothing"?

Do you ever kick back and do nothing for a day? Do you come home from work and sit in front of the TV until bedtime?

I was thinking about a relative today who "lives" like that. She can't get out and walk because it's too hot/cold/wet/etc. There's always a reason why she can't do this or that around the house. She complains about money issues, but won't do anything to improve her situation. She does work. She talks about wanting to work from home, but won't put in the ground work to learn a marketable skill.

When she's not at work, she's home on the couch. She does the basic things like cooking, laundry, and housekeeping, but that's about it. She's not stupid -in fact, she's rather intelligent. But it's like she's given up on life.

I know there are a lot of people like her. I don't understand it, though. I can't just sit and watch television. I have the TV on most of the time when I'm home, but I'm usually listening to it from another room. It drives me crazy to not be doing something constructive. If I look back on a Sunday evening (for example) at the day just passed and don't see things accomplished, I feel downright guilty.

As Jim Morrison said, "No eternal reward will forgive us now for wasting the dawn."

There are so many things to learn; places to go; people that need help; ways to make your life better, how does one just sit and stare and let the time pass without note? That must be some form of original sin.

I've pretty much done nothing for the past 8+ years, and for the past 4 years I've just wasted my time online.

Doing "nothing" for the day is the COOLEST EVER...

Doesn't happen very often for me...

BUT -- on that RARE occassion...

I LOVE it when my little eyeballs POP OPEN in the morning and KNOW that I don't have to do ANYTHING...

I LOVE IT EVEN MORE if there is a HEAVY downpour outside!!!

:D:D:D

One day a week each and every week,
I take a one day Sabbath. I disconnect from as much stuff as I can.
It is'nt that I do nothing. I fill the day with rest and relaxation for me
and my partner. No I do not abstain from sex.
Sometimes I read a lot.
Sometimes I go where I can hike of visit a scene which
is pastoral and comforting to me.
Sometimes I go to a live theatre production,
or a concert, either long hair, or modern.
Sometimes I go for adventure.
But changing one's routines helps me get ready
for the next week.

I don't mind being worthless :D

Your not worthless.Just because your not really doing anything constructive dosen't make you a "waste" or "worthless" you just like to do nothing.Nothing wrong with that. We all can't be adventurous thrill seekers or constantly chasing goal's.

I like to just sit back and chill myself and I love every minute of it.:-)

Give that man a cheroot! That's what I'm talking about. I think we all enjoy the rare day of "I got nothing to do today, and I'm gonna do it", but it seems those days should be rare.
I just can't stand to vegetate my free time away. There's so much can be done to round out the human being.

hhmmm I rarely do absolutely nothing, if i find myself sat in the house doing nothing i will usually grab my i-pod and go for a run or a long walk, if its raining i do housework, its theraputic hehe

](*,)](*,)

well, you see it is like this ....................and then there is the issue of ................. and the result is :help:](*,) it just does not seem to get better and the reason for that is ....................#-o

My mum always wonders why I don't get bored doing nothing, but I find the day whizzes by faster when I am doing nothing constructive, rather than when I am stuck doing useful but utterly boring work. (This is probably why I flunked my degree!)

I have been doing nothing for the past 5 years. Sure, i am actively pursing a B.A. in accounting, nearly done with a shitty GPA, but other than that, i feel like I've given up on life. I could be depressed, but i never get around to checking up on that.
