Does it make me an Asshole that it makes me that ALL of Next Door Studios websites have been dropping huge numbers in members and traffic?

Ok. I know the answer is "Yes". It just makes me wonder if maybe people finally got tired of their homophobic bullshit.

The only thing that would make me happier is if the entire studio went bankrupt. That is unlikely though, even if they did manage to over extend themselves with the amount of exclusives and acquiring other studios.

This drop is more than a simple response to the economy because traffic to the performers blogs, free videos, etc. would be steady even if memberships were dropped. They are also constantly running "specials" like the 3 months for the price of 1 -Please if you do sign up go through Austin Wilde's, so at least the gay guy gets the dollar sign up bonus.

I know that they are planning alot of "live events", the Fleshjack promotion, and they haven't stopped signing new gay4payers, like James Huntsman, to exclusives but I hope they take a look and reevaluate their product. When criticism of the way they glorify the gay4payers started they claimed it was they way they had always done it and it was what thier members wanted, specifically with Cody. Maybe they might start to see that isn't true since his site has dropped steadily everyday for the last 4 months.

I know this means "stunt" videos are coming. Like the Falcon/NDS gangbang. I said when Falcon sign on with NDS that Cody would end up doing his same boring jerk/service in their DVD releases and I was right. Why even have him in a gangbang scene? Did they really need an extra dick to get blown?

What I really wanted it ask is how my fellow JUBers feel about this development?

Well, to be honest, you've garnered a reputation for being incredibly fixated on NDS and Cody Cummings so I'm curious to know how you'd react.

What would you do if the site were to go bankrupt? Would you feel a sense of accomplishment and move on? Or would you target other sites that you feel have homophobic policies?

I have spoken about dubious practices of other studios but if I am "fixated" on NDS it is because they have done business for years with these types of homophobic business practices and have largely been protected by bloggers(who get paid off), models(who think they have to keep silent to work), straight women(who think gay men should be some how grateful), and owning awards shows.

If it did go bankrupt then I would use it as a illustration to other gay porn that gay men are not going to support that kind of homophobic bullshit with any kind of loyality and the types that it catered to will quickly move on.

Putting the homophobia issue aside, I don't see how they could sustain themselves by having 15 "exclusives" plus a 7 sites that only spotlight one model. Not to mention the other 5 they already have. The sex is mostly boring and why would anyone pay a monthly membership fee to see Marcus Mojo or Rod Daily when they have both literally filmed dozens of scenes for other companies. Plus most the models they use to work with their exclusives (Tyler Ford, Parker London among others) are in the same boat as Rod and Marcus as far as being on literally dozens of sites.

Maybe Jake Cruise is right that membership sites are starting to become obsolete. Sean Cody Randy Blue, and Corbin Fisher all have their issues but you aren't for the most part going to see those guys on a bunch of other sites until their contracts are up.

For those that complain about Allcide and his gripe with NDS, I'll say this.
We face discrimination everyday in society. The upcoming presidental election has people who have made it clear they want us to be second class citizens for life.
It's bad enough to have to deal with those bigots. To have to deal with them in something that is supposed to entertain us..no.

In my view, they have way too many sites - Male, Hookup, Buddies, Twinks and the many, many exclusives, considering that most of their models already fuck themselves through the entire gay porn industry.

It's blown up, full of itself and offers the same mediocre content week after week asking for too much money. Iolalucilleboylan said it already that the membership site is starting to crumble. People want to pay for individual scenes and not be tied to a plan that doesn't fully satisfy them, so studios have to make the decision to change their business plan and give us just that.

Also, I believe twitter should be taken down; it has revealed too much information on the thinking process of individual "celebs", which is only hurting their reputation. They forget that there is no filter or PR person who can prevent the damage and eventually exposing them to the danger of losing their career.

alot of models are abusing narcissism with twitter ,most definitely . however, I don't think models should stop having twitter..I just think that their interaction with fans should be more genuine ,and that the models in that sense need to keep their egos in check .its getting so bad that lately I've noticed that a few models (wont drop names here but it's fairly obvious who)in particular are ONLY acknowledging the fans who buy them shit from their amazon lists and shower them with gifts in general ,and who go into full stalker mode by making 98% of their twitter page a show of "devotion " (obsession ) about said model(s).this type of exclusive fan favoritism is just not right and is getting out of control ..

But; I keep reading about how many membership sites are struggling right now. It doesn't seem clear to me (or people who know much more about the industry than me) if this is just as a result of the economy, or if we are witnessing a sea change in the way people consume adult entertainment on the internet.

I guess my point is; it is not clear to me how much of the declining numbers of NDS is related to their content, as opposed to something broader affecting more sites.

And, no, I am not a fan of NDS.

Bobbyv, I imagine it's a mix of all those things.
There is no doubt torrent sites have cut into the profits of all porn sites.
However, the membership charges for many of these sites is simply not substainable.
Gay Room, one of the newest and best sites out there..charges 40 a month for membership. THe Jake Cruise and NDS charge about 25-30 a month.
THat is a lot to ask for when many people simply want indiviual scenes.

Not to quibble with you ninja, but I think your math is off. Gay Room charges $24.94 a month for access to all of their sites. I joined for a month and then, when I went to cancel it, they offered me a ridiculous discount of something like $12.95 a month so I kept it. It's like Sean Cody who charges $27.95 a month but will drop it to $17.95 a month to keep you if you try to cancel.
