Does religion and conservative politics contribute to a closeted guy's anger?

I don't think him being conservative or religious on his facebook page has given him anger towards homosexuality. I think he's just hiding behind those things as a way to make people think "oh he's conservative and religious, that must mean he's not gay". Some guys are so ashamed of their sexuality, they will do anything to hide it, including seeming hateful of homophobic. I know a guy who is very obviously, down-right flamboyantly gay and is married and joined the military (got kicked out for unknown reasons like probably sucking cock) and tries to "butch it up" by working on cars and playing sports but the gay still shines right on through. Everyone can tell. He just is ashamed and that's probably what this guy is feeling. He probably felt something towards you and couldn't hide it well. When he realised you saw that or may have picked up on possibility that he may not be thought of as straight, he freaked out. It's due to self-hatred and confusion probably. It may or may not stem from politics or religion. I think that's more of a cover-up than anything.
