  • Hi Guest - Some things to know about this forum:
If you're new, please read the Posting Guidelines. Banned content is in "List of Content Never Allowed on JUB".
The most important thing to know: images of persons under 18 years old are never allowed here. If you cannot verify that the person in the picture is 18 years or older, don't post it.

Does Sean Cody take advatage of their models?

I may be in the minority here, but to me a phrase like "18 year old adults" is a kind of oxymoron, like "military intelligence", or "jumbo shrimp"...
The part of a person's brain that controls impulsive behaviors isn't even fully formed until into one's 20's, which in some cases is long AFTER a twink's career has ended. So, these guys are making this decision, which IS life-altering, at a time when they really could benefit from a little mature guidance. But what they get is recruited.
Something to consider...At 18, we don't think a guy is mature enough to order a beer in many places. But we DO allow him to go to war, and make porn. What does this say about us?

I actually agree with you rare is the individual of that age that really has the capacity to know exactly what they're getting into. Alot of todays youths make quick decisions without really thinking the consequences through. I'm not saying that this generation is any different than any other i think it's always been this way. It's just the things they have to make those kinds of choices about are on a much wider field now then in past generations. Just look at the things young peolpe do now without really thinking it through everything from enlisting in the service(which is commendable if it's right for them) ,to getting something pierced or altered permanantly to these huge tatoos that can never be changed not to mention things like doing porn , or whatever it may be. I agree if they're any younger than say 23 or so i'd seriously wonder if they really had the presence of mind to have made that choice when they made it. I do believe some mature guidance would be beneficial.

*Sigh* So true...When I think back to my own late teens, I shudder to think of how life would have turned out if I managed to do ALL the things I thought were good ideas at the time.

Well to be honest, judging from what I've seen for years, I think Sean Cody is and has been pushing the "Straight muscular and toned jocks experimenting with each other" image for a very long time now. I'd say they are one of the highest paying gay websites and if the guys on there are doing it for whatever purposes I highly doubt they're being "taken advantage" of.

Personal responsibility is on the porn actor. If they don't want to do it, they don't. If they want the money, they do. If they regret it afterwards, then that's their fault, not the companies.

I don't see it as taking advantage of anyone, those models at Sean Cody are paid for their appearances and what they do. if they were getting "taken advantage of" I don't think they would be lying there taking it, just saying..

I agree with the issue of personal responsibility, but the playing field isn't really equal. You have the porn makers, who basically call the shots. They have the money, technical ability, contacts, etc. The performer has only his face and body. And unlike other areas of the film industry, these guys don't own their images, they get a one-time fee, and the porn maker can then sell and resell that image for the next 100 years.
And because the industry is not respected in mainstream society, no one will stand up for the performers. Anything that happens to them will be seen as "the price you pay for being in porn.", as if these guys (and girls) somehow DESERVE to be mistreated for being in such a sleazy business.
It's such a hypocrisy! All those clean, moral people who sneer at the sex worker, and would NEVER even THINK about inviting one to their next backyard barbecue, but they pull the blinds down and pop a porn DVD in and wack off to someone else's son or daughter who probably didn't have any of the chances or advantages their own little "Buffy" or "Broderick" had...
I would love to see the performers get together and unionize, like SAG.
