  • Hi Guest - Did you know?

Does Summer gets awfully hot where you live?

It can. We had a hand full of days in the high 90's (F) but its really the humidity in the summer that is a bitch around here. Today it was gorgeous out, about 80F. Then is rained and the humidity made it feel about 100.

Yes. Between 85-90 f, 29-32 c. Combined with the high humidity, it can get pretty nasty.

Where I´m from we dont have winter, summer, spring or autumn at most of you know it. Just two seasons, rainy and dry. When it gets hot, like in March-May it doesnt get hotter than 28°C. And the coolest, which is in December-January is like 20°. So we have great weather all year long.

How bout you?

Same here - dry season (summer) and wet season (winter). Average high in December-Janu is 18°C (64°F) and in August-September it is 22°C (71°F) here at the beach. If I want warmer weather, I can go a few miles inland; however, generally I prefer the cool weather that I have here, although today it is a bit warmer than usual.

My neighborhood is winter, without the tourist crowds:

We had some hot periods here too but I dont remember the exact temperature.

Well it probably wouldn't have felt as bad if we had air-conditioning... but we don't... so when you string a few days with high temps (that don't go down at night) together, it seems worse than it actually is.

In Miami? Summer is HOT and HUMID.

But here's the deal. From October 15th to May 15th, the weather is beautiful with a few chilly days between January and February.

From May 16th to October 14th the humidity gets very high. But because of that the temperature seldom goes above 91°. It just feels like 101°!

Sydney can get to 45C in the west. It is usually an extremely dry heat, with hot gusty winds blowing sand in your eyes.

One year for a 3 day period it hit about 47C, so I was unconscious for those days.

This is probably one of the hottest summers in history where I live. I hate it. But the newly falling leaves in my back yard are getting me excited about cooler weather.

When it's hot tress disguard their leaves b/c the leaves steal water from the trunk/roots.

It's gotten up to 100 lately where I live, but I honestly don't mind the heat. You can strip down, drink something cold, swim, turn on the A/C unit. In winter it is MUCH more difficult to feel warm/comfortable without a chill.

It's funny people have spent decades trying to change their environments (A/c, heaters, fire places, fans) and now they have, Global warming.

At 9pm tonight it was 89F (32C), but the heat index was 97 (36F). At 9pm. We've been having heat indices between 100 and 105F (38-41C) since Saturday. I'm damn tired of it, too. I'm ready for that fluffy rain I bitch so much about! :D See for yourself: TWC

FYI - For July, my electric bill went from $97 to $150. I can't wait to see what it is this time.

well i normally go back to where i grew up for a couple of weeks every summer and it is always hot

In early 2006, Adelaide, South Australia was hit by a heat wave with temperatures reaching 40+ °C for five days in a row, while Port Augusta experienced temperatures hovering around about mid 40s °C with one day recorded at approx 48 °C.

guess where i was when that happened it was really bad just no respite usually you get a couple of days mid 30's to cool off a bit but no i dont think it got below 36 at night

melbourne is a bit cooler but still hot quite a bit but we only had a few days above 40 so its not so bad

oh and the best time to go to the pool is just as its getting dark on a really hot day the pool water is perfect and no sunburn :D

You should get air-cond... its so much better when you have it!

I live in New York so summer doesn't mean exceedingly hot temperatures (though it does get warm enough) but it DOES mean humidity. I'd take LA's dry, desert heat with the opportunity to seek shade over the NY humidity any day. Too bad I dislike LA so much.

It takes patience to fully appreciate L.A. - something lacking in most NYers. I have found, however, that most people who end up staying here are unsually patient, and that is a characteristic that I very much appreciate. It's most noticeable when I see cars wait patiently for slow pedestrians to cross the street. In NY, the drivers tend to honk their horns and seem annoyed that anyone dares cross a street. I like NY and I like NYers - it's just the weather I can't handle. I've never been to NY in summer, but I can't imagine that it would be worse than Houston, where the humidity and temps in summer are even higher than NY, but at least Houston has an abundance of shade trees. It's difficult to adjust from a fast paced city like NY or San Francisco to a slower pace. I noticed that severely when I moved from SF to Austin, but the slowness of Austin helped get me ready for L.A. Summers in Austin were not as bad as Houston, but they were bad enough, and I am no longer able to handle that kind of heat.

I once went to New York at the end of August and it was very, very, very hot. Probably it was just that year...
