I'm in a threeway relationship and have been for seven and a half years. Both my partners are tops and are well-endowed and love to fuck me. As such I'm relentlessly getting penetrated (which is an issue in itself but that's not my question).

I'm not "blown out" or anything but I don't think I'm as tight as I used to be, or rather as tight as I'd like to be. In college a few years ago I was in a sexual health class and the professor mentioned that the vagina tightens back up without use but she was unsure if the ass did so as well. So that's my question... if I take a break will I regain tightness? If so, how long a break?

Thanks!

Hi Atomic, it doesn't tighten up by itself I think but you can do some very easy exercises to tighten back up.

This question comes up on the forum every now and then.

The short answer: there's no lasting damage to the anal sphincter as long as a) you're putting reasonable sized things in it (e.g. no oversized dildos) and b) you're not engaging in rough/extreme anal play (e.g. fisting,).

Dating back to the AIDS epidemic, the Religious Right has been putting out nonsense about the "rugged vagina" and "delicate rectum". It's bullshit. Unfortunately, some of the disinformation stuck and there's still information on the internet that falsely implies that the anus/rectum will be permanently damaged by anal sex. Anal sex doesn't damage the anus or rectum and it doesn't make the anus "looser", in spite of disinformation to the contrary.

The one issue that is true: the more you engage in anal sex, the more that your anal sphincters learn to relax. There is research that supports that men and women who engage in anal sex have trained their anal muscles to relax on demand, however there is no anatomical differences found on examination and there is no "damage" to the muscles that would interfere with bowel function.

It's discussed in this thread:

As we age, the muscles in the pelvic area do age, too. This is why a lot of urologists and colorectal doctors recommend regular "core muscle" exercise and Kegel's exercises. If you are worried about not "feeling tight", you can work on these muscles yourself and it will benefit your overall health as you age.
