As a Canadian, I dont think America has too much to brag about right now.

I get frustrated when Americans say "only in America". Because whatever good they can do in America, they can probably do in Canada as well.

Canada and the US are very similiar. But why do all the mass shootings happen in the US? Before school shootings, it was postal workers, etc. There have been alot of mass shootings. Canada has had a couple of mass shootings.

I dont understand why America doesnt understand that guns arent the answer. I think things would be different if guns laws were changed in America. Its not going to get every gun off the street but I think the mass shootings would greatly drop.

There is the argument of the right to bear arms. I can understand that when the right was originally created, but things have changed since then. People dont need guns to protect themselves and their homes.

If this was true, then Canada would have multiple break ins. Canadians would be dying left and right because of home burglaries . . but that doesnt happen. We are doing just fine and we dont 'nned' the right to bear arms.

I wish America would get that

I live on the West Coast and I watch as one natural disaster strikes the US again and again. Ive grown up (1972) with the belief that 'the big one' will hit us. It hasnt happened.

I really believe that Vancouver is one of the safest places to live when it comes to natural disasters. I am very thankful and Im glad Americans havent really caught on to that idea and moved here by the masses to avoid the natural disasters that occur.

You may not like what I have said but remember that other right you have - the right to free speech

Cmon America, get rid of the guns

No, the United States doesn't suck. The dumbass hicks who are bringing down the entire country, trying to turn us Third World suck. Excuse me, take your unIntelligent Design elsewhere. Let's put all the stupid people in the South, and take the smart people who are in the South, up to the North. The South always wanted to be it's own country. Let 'em have it. Call it Jesuschusetts.

America sucks because of discrimination? Hahahahahaha. That is just stupid... and its so obvious why that I dont have to even explain it to you.

Nooo, then they would take wonderful cities like Charleston, Sc away from us Winter Birds =[

I love the United States and I'm thankful that I'm an American. Unlike most in this thread (I guess) I'm proud to be an American too. I love our history, our diversity, our freedom, our economy, our way of life, etc. I wouldn't live anywhere else, and yes, I have traveled to other countries.

I also hope a Democrat gets elected this round but I'm not holding my breath. We shall see.

The poll is a bit tricky here. Which one do you click on if you love the U.S?

... but I really like Americans themselves. They deserve better than what they have

Amen!

I'll go a tad further to say we deserve better than we're going to get in November -no matter who wins.

Get kinda tired of the America bashing .... Kind of reminds me of the old expression... Lead, Follow or get the hell out of the way. Ready to led then get er done

Some things about the US do suck:

1. Out health care system is inhumane and cruel

2. We did not prepare ourselves for the energy crisis. We waste too much energy which is irresponsible.

3. Corporations have too much influence on our government.

4. The religous right is too powerful

5. We like to say that we love our freedom but since Bush has been in office we are not as free as many of us believe.

6. We still do not have equal civil rights.

7. Our government has too much debt.

8. The average American does not save. They actually spend more than they make.

It's starting to, and we need to take steps to stop this worrisome trend towards suckiness that George W Bush has led us to. The US would suck a lot less if we weren't losing our rights to a war that was destroying our economy. It has the potential to be truly awesome, but we have to work for it. Please vote this fall.

The USA sucks more than all the Nevada whorehouses combined. Always has, always will.

I think it's O.K. It is better than most, but some things could be changed.

3. Corporations have too much influence on our government.
That may be the understatement of the day.

Sad to say, corporations ARE our government these days.

I know when one says things like 'black water' and 'Haliburton' people turn off really quickly. But, they shouldn't.

This is not a 'war' we are engaged in right now. It's a transfer of wealth, from what's left of our U.S. Treasury into the mighty pockets of the corporate city that now exists in Iraq. A city larger than the size of Atlanta, by the way, that is made up only of military corporate interests that still manage to squeak by under the guise of 'fighting terrorists'.

It's insane, it's criminal, and it's going to bankrupt the United States.
(It's already begun) But, America's citizens will NOT wake up.

Oh look ! It's time for another Nascar race !

I love the United States.

The people I have met there are friendly, the landscapes are beautiful, it has very vibrant communities. It has major flaws, maybe even more so than other western countries, but it is still a free country. There are many things I dont like about it, and I resent the fact that there is no gun control down there, primarily because of the fact that we have a problem of guns coming in from the US. That being said, I am glad we have them as a neighbour, that country just has some catching up to do in terms of progress.

well, I moved from the USA more than a year ago... gave up a high paying job to get away from the people who think USA is the universe and nothing else matters. I dont like the "world bully policy" of the US government who tries to instill the Christian values (I am Catholic, by the way) onto the rest of the world and doesn't take care of its own. George Bush and the Iraqi war was the final straw for me to live in awesome Costa Rica...albeit this country has its problems also. I am making 10% of what I made in the USA, but I am 110% happier!

I've always been pretty embarrassed to be an American because of how politically and socially ignorant we tend to be. We're stereotyped very badly by the majority of the world, and the sad thing is that we can't really blame anybody for that. I always feel like I have to explain that "I'm an American, but...".

I think I might be trailing off a bit, but to answer the question, no, the U.S.A. does not suck. It's almost too easy for Americans to hate their country as we stand right now, but to think about what we've accomplished, what we've been through, and why this country was founded, I find it hard to believe that any American couldn't have a little bit of pride in them. We're in a very bad slump right now, yes, and we're losing sight of just why this country was considered so fantastic to begin with. It's weird, but we sort of need to have a revolution back to our founding principles.

Just give it time. It'll happen. We're going to pick ourselves up and make this nation better once again. We always have and always will.

America doesn't suck and more then any other democratic country that sometimes has a moron elected to run the things. I think our country have been going down the wrong track for many years but it can be turned around with the right leaders.
