I think some guys have it up in briefs so they do not have to adjust it if they get a hard :) May also depend on its length when soft , mine being on the long side :) naturally lies down ! Have to adjust it if I see a hot guy!

a friend of mine keeps his upwards in his briefs - he said to me that doing that made it grow longer (and yes, he IS well endowed at about 7.5" - 8" when hard). Same here, glad I'm not the only one, I think its fine to have it either way it just depends on whats comfortable/works for you. But he seems like its "un-natural" or something.
 
I think 'up' would only work with tight briefs, unless you have a natural 'shortie' which wants to point upwards :) Must admit it is something I have never thought about before thought all guys just let it lie downwards!
 
Mine is upwards, but sometimes it moves a bit to the left. I've tried downwards but that didn't feel right. Most guys in my surroundings have it upwards.

I lay mine up when I use boxer briefs and have been doing this all my life but have always thought laying them downward was the norm. I try to do it but sometimes it feels uncomfortable. The only thing that has me scratching my head is how does someones penis while soft stay pointing up in loose boxers???? nothing to hold it up. unless it is hard i cant picture that.

It's funny cause I was thinking the opposite - shorties could point downwards in briefs, and more hung guys would go up and to the side. I'm bigger then average, though not XL or anything, and I up and to the side (pointing towards my hip bone). In boxers its down.

I suppose it really has to do with the shape of your pelvis, the size and shape cock and I think especially your balls, and habit too
