Dog Lovers, help please

Shelties make wonderful pets. I had one once and he was smart, loving and friendly to others. He was a great companion and I mourned for a long time when I had to have him put down.

I have been think of either a Corgi, Cocker Spaniel, Rottweiler, or a pot bellied pig for awhile now. A Corgi, or pig would be my first choices.

See the thread on the micro pig ..|

Before you run off and buy the first cute dog you see you should talk to someone who knows about animals. Maybe find a vet and ask them what dog would be best for you or look for information about the kind of dog you want and see if you will be able to care for it. Different dogs have different needs, some breeds need a lot more exercise than others, some might be more at risk of certain problems. Find a dog that you will be able to look after, not just one that is cute.

Right Breed for You?
Bold and friendly, the Pembroke responds well to training and loves his family, but he may try to herd you! He thrives on farms, but can adapt to a variety of living situations if given regular exercise. This breed also requires routine brushing.

Right Breed for You?
The Cardigan can adapt to country life or city apartments, but need some form of daily exercise. As a companion dog, they love to be with their people and are loyal, affectionate and even-tempered. The breed’s double coat requires regular brushing.

Thank you guys for the posts and pics. And I will be sure to check out the shelter before I buy.

Sorry, a dog or a pig or a koi, is a very long term commitment and seeing that you are all over the place with what you want maybe it is not the best time to get anything.

How about trying out dog or pig sitting for a while?
