Dog owners - Do you allow your dog in bed ?

of course he slept on the bed and he took naps with me under the covers---he didn't like to be under the covers all night--he got too hot.

Ever since I was very young I've always slept with a dog (sometimes two, or even three) in the bed. Of course, every now and then bedtime does become a competition for who can conquer the most real estate on the mattress, but we're both male and territorial, and that's all just part of the fun. The living room furniture is also no exception, but I actually like it when he piles up on the sofa and lays on top of me. And since turnabout is fair play, I've even been known to occasionally lie on the floor alongside him for us to take naps together. He always finds that amusing.

It's just never bothered me at all to share my sleep space. I actually prefer it. He seems to as well. Admittedly, most of my canine companions have been of a rather large size but as far as I'm concerned that's a plus. The feeling of protection is nice. I like having the company, and I enjoy the comfort that comes with the closeness. In addition, I rarely have to wonder if he's somewhere else in the house getting into mischief.

As a matter of fact, I have a "Very Good Boy" cuddled up next to me right now and I'm petting him. He is perfectly content amongst these pillows and quietly snoring in the night while I'm here answering questions.

Can't imagine a bed without your dogs and cats in it....

I don't sleep soundly untill Missy has landed and is nested between my legs.

Sometimes I like to cuddle with a nice head of cabbage though.

Yes I'll have my chihuahua dog in bed with me

My first LTR had a big old Shepherd that loved to go camping with us, and fart, all night long. Horrendous, gagging, eye watering farts that took forever to clear out.

So, that's a big 'NO!' for me.

On the bed. Not in the bed.. Sofa? It has a blanket. Rocker/recliner? It has a cover. They don't get on the other two lay-z-boys. They have their own beds, too.

I don't have a dog, and I'll probably never have a pet again, due to the expense. But I'd probably let him or her sleep on, but not in, the bed.

We always had at least one cat when I was growing up, and they were allowed to sleep on the bed. Of course, as the joke goes: Where does a fully grown gorilla sleep? Anywhere he wants! Where does a 10 pound house cat sleep? Anywhere he wants!

Has anyone said this: "My last boyfriend was a real dog, and I let him sleep in the bed!"
Mine growled at me one time. I swatted him with the newspaper and put him outside.
