Leaving a dog at home alone all day is cruelty.

The video recorded on a camera attached to the animal's head, shows the owner in Springfield, Missouri saying goodbye and leaving the animal in it's misery

I'm so glad Mike the Intern caught this heartbreaking footage on film!

oh it is crying.
Cats on the other hand cope really well alone.

To be honest I wouldn't be surprised to see a hand on the other end of the that camera. It looks like what you'd see on those dog commercials from the p.o.v. of the dog. haha!

It´s not a problem if you educate them from a young age. Sooner or later, every dog will have to spend some time by itself at home and each owner has to do his homework (ha, pun).

Otherwise you get complains from the neighbors, a sad dog and most probably chewed/pissed carpets, clothes, furniture etc.

YOU say it's not a problem because you're not there hearing the lonely dog crying for you. The neighbours hear it.

Too many fashionable people get dogs which have been abandoned by others so they don't have the opportunity to retrain them in the new house they're been taking to. A house is like a prison to a lonely dog.

I hate it when my carpets get pissed, they're mean enough to let my bare feets get cold at that point!

You missed the point he made about preparing the dog first. He never said anything about abandoning the animal. But dogs CAN be trained. They can also be entertained/kept busy by other dogs, by things that keep them occupied, even by other animals (like maybe a parrot that can say a few words). The trick is to provide things to entertain the dog while you are away, not just leave the poor thing completely alone.

Please, don´t get a dog.

Okay okay, pissed on. Better?

I disagree that it is only dogs. When we go out our two cats stare at us like no problem. I also hooked up a cam by the entrance door in our foyer. Within 15 min of leaving that's is where they stay. Some time on will go and eat some food the other to the kitty litter but over a 5 hour period while we are out they sit there till we get home. When we go away for 2 days to a week we put thm in a wonderful cattery and they cry as we leave and have been told when anyone walks in they run to see who it is and then go back to sleep. We are in the process of buying a home that will have a 3 bed apartment on the lower ground floor level (sort f like a smaller version of Upstairs down stairs one on TV where cooks were), and have a young women friend who can not afford to rent anything like in London who will live there paying the sane she paus as a room mate and watch our cats when we go away.

I live with a roommate who keeps his dog in the garage all day without toys or anything. There is no other dog to play with. I'm not a pet person at all, but I don't completely neglect her. At times, I have given her food I cook that I know she can eat, prepared dog food for her, let her out to relieve herself and let her in the house. She tends to run up the steps every time I go upstairs. When she gets to the top, she will turn around and put her paw out as if to get my attention. What she ends up wanting is affection.

I don't think people about dogs as living beings with feelings. People have just been conditioned to have dogs because of tradition but don't think about what the dog will experience. It's selfish to leave a dog for hours and hours without anything to keep it occupied. I said something to my roommate's grown son about the dog and he said, "it's a dog" as if it didn't matter what the animal experienced. I think the only people who should have dogs are ones who have done the research on how to properly care for them. Having a pet for a lot of people is keeping an animal in captivity.

Many people have no concept of what an animal companion is really for or what their needs are.

People out here in the country are about the worst. They get a dog and then think of it only as something to chain up to bark at anyone who drives up the lane.

It took us some years to convince a friend and neighbour out here that every animal has a personality and emotional needs independent of just satisfying their humans.

Once they got it, it opened up a whole new world for them and their animals, including keeping another animal as a play companion to the dog and providing more stimulation while they are away.

maybe a supa 1t world folkees keepars interent 2 pets ans go woofy ta ums

Sad but true. :(

ANECDOTE ALERT:

I have a friend who has an adorable small dog. Friendly, affectionate and a joy to be with. Together, they visit a local nursing home. They brighten the day for any resident they see. :=D:

Eww.

My piss is too good for Bieber though.

That isn't saying much. Dirty, smog choked air is too good for Bieber. But, hey, maybe that's a decent use for Bieber..... as a piss-stained carpet, let people walk all over him for a change.

I don't get how people can be so dumb.
