Virgin
A Hungarian sheepdog, a Puli, wandered into our yard and stayed. At first, my mother wouldn't feed it, just gave it water. He stayed. So, she fed it every day. He liked to go on car rides and was friendly to everybody. I named him "Sam," as in "Sam I Am." I had just lost my dad, and I was really down. Sam stayed a year and a half, then he left one day and didn't come back. By then I was working. He must have known that I was going to be okay. I saw him once more, down by the harbor. I called to him, and he wagged his tail. Then he turned and went up to a porch and went in an open door.
