Why is it that there seems to be so much animosity among JUB members? On one randomly chosen 1 1/2 page thread in hot topics, I read a number of personal attacks, dismissive comments, name calling and someone telling the OP "time to call it quits" with regards to the topic, when only a few people had voiced their opinions.

I mean, if you have a problem with another member, just don't speak to them. If you have fun engaging in little fights, PM each other. It seems like every thread having to do with anything remotely controversial, and in many cases, not EVEN, mean things are said and people get so incredibly rude. I hate to think how you all handle conflict resolution in the real world.

I admit, I've defended myself against people who have called me, well, most recently a "rude little fuck", but I think its high time these little fights and bitch slaps be taken to another arena and left off the threads where real things are being discussed. It's just so irritating to scroll through a perfectly nice thread on anal hygiene only to stumble across some bitchy poster correcting the OP for his misused apostrophe and accusing him of being a moron and how could ANYONE take him seriously with such poor syntax and grammar.

I mean really.

Is this the best we can do? My theory has always been that whenever I see a misplaced attack or comment like that, its some sad, miserable slob who wouldn't dare confront someone in real life, so he chooses to flex his muscle here. How cowardly. I mean, who's with me on this? Does it annoy anyone else? Does the sun make noise? ;) What are your thoughts?

I get joking around, but entire threads getting hijacked by two jackasses with nothing but time on their talons is annoying.

Since I know of the thread your speaking of all to well. I shall give you my opinion.
I will respond then put that member on ignore. Most of the times its one jub member with multi screen names leaving nasty comments under many names.
They give themselves away in their writing style etc. I do agree with you that there are some that just come here to fight with others.
Thats what makes the ignore feature such a wonderful thing.

Welcome to JUB.

It's always been like this.

Something to do with a lot of gay men just being "bitchy". Ugly little SOB,s too.

I agree with you, Nate.

But sometimes, not all the time, but sometimes the fights can be a bit humorous. :corn:

"Hello, world."

Can't believe I quoted this.

Wondering if it has to do with the lack of emotions conveyed in a text medium? Statements meaning to be jokes taken far too seriously.

Yeah, shit happens.

(What's with this 'hata' word?? Not in any dictionary I know of!)

@ozguy: Hater. The teacher in me clutched his chest in agony.

ahh thanks for defending me nate78 ........ :luv:

oh i know who you are talking about.
Ignore him or bitch back until he is reluctant to make rude comments.

Hi there, I'm a sad, miserable slob who wouldn't dare confront someone in real life, so I choose to flex my muscle here even though I know it's so cowardly. #-o

I appreciate your honesty. It's all about learning from one another.

If I don't agree with someone I try to be as diplomatic as possible in sharing my viewpoint, usually suggesting that there are different ways of examining the same issue or concern. We all can learn from each other - we may not agree but we can learn and be civil in the process... Just my 2 cents...

Interesting thoughts and comments. A "hata" is the word "hater", phonetically spelled as heard in certain types of music. A hater is a person that simply cannot be happy for another person's success. So rather than be happy they make a point of exposing a flaw in that person.

Example:

Susan: You know, Kevin from accounting is doing very well. He just bought a house in a very nice part of town.

Jane (hater): If he is doing so well why does he drive that '89 Taurus?
