Agree, I have already conceded this point....they did nothing but cry like little girls about it...shame on them.

Ultimately, the healthcare bill is/was crap (as a whole, I do like parts of it)...no amount of debate or amendments could have fixed it.

98 percent of massachusetts residents are now covered and have healthcare as a result of Romneycare. We are quite happy with it here, sothe national version doesn't really affect me personally.

Romneycare went farther than Obamacare.

There are some things that do need to be fixed. I believe that the 1099 clause needs to go. I also believe people need to be able to buy into medicare.

I agree on both parts...I liked the pre-existing condition part, disliked the exemptions being made to big business and Unions...would have really liked to see tort reform really address...but then, I am afraid some of these lawyers would gain weight...no longer getting their exercise chasing them ambulances.

true there. I think that Obama brought up limiting medical malpractice settlement amounts in his last State of the Union address, or something like that.

I haven't heard a whisper of it since from anyone. probably because the GOP is politically tied to a repeal, not a fix.

Medical malpractice amounts to about anywhere from 2-6% of total healthcare costs. For all the fuss you heard about overzealous lawyers from the GOP, this number is surely small.

Me thinks there is a special interest group pushing the GOP to take up this cause.

One of the major areas were these law suits have the greatest impact is OB/GYN...people sue because they know they will win with a jury (not because any wrong doing took place...because you show a picture of a sick baby, and you win). Because of this, many OB/GYN's settle out of court (even though did nothing wrong) because it is actually cheaper to settle...as a result their insurance goes up. I have worked with a few OB/GYN's who stopped delivering babies because they couldn't afford the insurance, and general practitioners that are licensed to deliver, but won't (smaller areas of practice).

These lawsuits have certainly increased over the past couple decades and will continue to do so unless they are brought into control. Even nurses are getting sued more and more (why I have malpractice insurance).

I think one of the major problems is that people think that just because they go to the doctor (and despite all the damage that THEY caused their bodies) that the doctor can "fix" them. That is not always the case, but they still sue.
