Supermodel 'rejects dollar pay'

The model reportedly demanded euros for a Pantene advert

The world's richest model has reportedly reacted in her own way to the sliding value of the US dollar - by refusing to be paid in the currency.
Gisele Bündchen is said to be keen to avoid the US currency because of uncertainty over its strength.
The Brazilian, thought to have earned about $30m in the year to June, prefers to be paid in euros, her sister and manager told the Bloomberg news agency.
However, Ms Bündchen, 27, declined to comment on her pay arrangements.
Last week the dollar hit an all-time low against the euro, the British pound and the Canadian dollar.
According to Brazil's weekly magazine Veja, when Ms Bündchen signed a deal to represent Pantene hair products, she demanded that the brand owner, Proctor & Gamble (P&G), paid her in euros.
P&G was reported as saying that it could not comment on details of the contract.
There are also reports that she will be paid in euros for a deal with Dolce & Gabanna to promote its The One fragrance.
"Contracts starting now are more attractive in euros because we don't know what will happen to the dollar," Patricia Bündchen told Bloomberg.
'Still negative'
Last month, billionaire investor Warren Buffett said that he was not confident about the strength of the dollar.
"We are still negative on the dollar relative to most other currencies so we bought stocks in companies that earn their money in other currencies," he said of his Berkshire Hathaway investment vehicle.
And last week, Jim Rogers, a former investor partner of George Soros, said that he was selling his home and all his possessions to buy Chinese currency, the yuan. The dollar has slipped amid US interest rate cuts which have been trimmed to 4.5% after standing at 5.25% in September. This means that investors are looking to buy other currencies that will give a higher rate of return.

Proctor & Gamble has a lot of chemical companies making detergents and bleach. This must mean the dollar is a whitewash.

Another War on Terror in Iran, anyone?

Tom Brady better watch out. He gets paid in US Dollars. She might dump him.

No one overseas does dollar deals at the moment, you are virtually guaranteeing to be paid less at the end of the contract, so if you have the power you switch the currency. The other way round is great though. I'm coming to the States next week, and it will be bargain basement time with more than $2 to the £.

I'd tell the "Brazilian Beauty" to go straight to Hell.......

She should be pleased that she has a job, getting top $$$ for her performances...

Let her go work in the European markets if that is the way she wants to be paid....

I don't think we will miss her.......I know I will NOT!

Good bye Ms Thang! Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out of America!(*8*)(*8*):kiss:

You don't really notice that your money is devaluing or increasing in value if you don't go abroad and have to use the currency exchanges. Maybe she does that a lot, but for the average joe who don't travel outside the US, the only thing you'll notice is a slight increase in imported goods, and how much or often you buy those depend on where you get them from.

If you're using say Walmart or some big chain store, most of the difference would probably be ironed as they can afford to gain in one area whilst another stays relatively subsidised.

Don't count on it being too big a bargain. A one week visit to Texas ended up costing well over $4,000 USD for two people, and we were staying in the cheapest motels we could find, and rented the cheapest economy car possible. We ate in no fancy restaurants, but also ate no fast food.

While US exported goods are cheaper, life in the US is not. Houston is rated the least expensive city in the US currently, but after 4 years in Bogotá, Colombia we found it out of sight expensive. No wonder Americans are working two and three jobs per household.

But it is a beautiful country and except for the Neocons in control, the people are great.

Reasons not to get paid in US Dollars:

1 Canadian Dollar = 1.09080 USD
1 Euro = 1.45586 USD
1British Pound = 2.08740 USD

The US Dollar is in bad shape right now.... who would want to get paid in a currency with such a low value. It's like if you were to pay me in Chinese Yuan instead of US Dollars. I'd completely lose by the end.

I think I will demand my employer pay me in sterling.

Really? In most cities, you can get a decent hotel room for $100 a night, a rental car for $50 a day, and three square meals a day for $30 or so. That's $180 a day, or $1260 a week. Is that horribly expensive?
