Doug and Shay kick out of the Pad!

Halloween partying. Pretty Much Shay got laid out, Taylor got knocked in the head and Doug has a black eye.

Because stupid freakin locals have the I.Q's of a raisin and can't leave people alone.

Shay is probably leaving for the drinking, but WHY is Doug leaving I ask you? Fail - Fail - Fail.

NOT to mention, they only have 15 minutes each to say goodbye to everyone. I may as well leave the site now. =\

So Damn Stupid Fratpad I'll Miss'em.... :{

The risk of being a member of Fratpad is getting to care too much about the guys. Like any place of employment, there are rules that can get you fired if you violate them. Those rules are there to protect the house and the guys. The thing is, these are YOUNG men (Shay is only eighteen) placed in an exotic setting without any parental or familial oversight. Like a lot of college students away from home, they get a little wild. The situation virtually begs for problems.

It broke my heart when Travis was sent home. I was really into him and spent probably way too much time online during his shows. I pretty much stopped logging in after that except for the occasional chance to see Shay and Jayden. Now Shay is going. I don't know if I can continue to invest my emotions into this site. It is just too sad when these things happen.

Rules are rules. Fratpad is a business.

haha isnt like half of the appeal to the show watching sexy young guys partying it up and fooling around? you want to attract the fun party guys then tell them they can not party at all?

Shay is a babe

>>"Rules are rules."<<

Oh, THAT explains it. How profound.

This always happens when a Fratmen leaves or gets kicked out of the pad, people come on here and bitch and say they are leaving the site. When in all actuality the site will continue on and all those pissed off members will forget why they are pissed and drool over the new guys that move into the pad.

"Because stupid freakin locals have the I.Q's of a raisin and can't leave people alone."

I'm still confused as to what happened. Did they fight amongst each other? The above quote makes it seem like they were accosted outside the house.

Where did you get your info? I went on Fratpad and I don't see anything posted about it except a goodbye announcement.

^ I'm wondering the same thing. Sounded like they went out partying and got in a skirmish with some locals. Can they leave the house or are they confined to the property for weeks at a time? Young frisky guys are going to get rowdy and find some outlet. Maybe the pad is too confining. Of course they do agree to certain rules, so then you get into the 'rules' argument. Seems like quite a few are getting sent home lately.

Oh. My. God.

Shay's goodbye, was the most tear-jerking experience.. EVER.

Doug's was heart warming. You can't help but love the guy.

He hires 18 year olds who have clearly shown that they don't follow traditional societal norms by jacking off on cam. He places them in an enclosed environment with like individuals. He then encourages them to act out as wildly as possible. Then he punishes them for something that guys their age do ALL THE TIME. Underage drinking!!!!! Oh, the humanity!!!!!!!!!! If 18 year olds(especially in groups) drink and get into fights, what will be next? Premarital sex? Perish the thought.

Wow. That really is a good analysis of the situation. These guys are indeed asked to break societal norms on a daily basis. Therefore, I can see why "rules" might be difficult to adhere to. Granted, I'm certain those rules are clearly stated; but, it seems a bit arbitrary for the site owner to say that his rules should never be challenged when he asks them to constantly ignore societal norms.

That said, it's his business and he can run it however he sees fit. Without question, however, I agree that you are right in saying he should address the system failure in his business model. After the disastrous fake home invasion they staged, it took me a long time to "trust" Fratpad again. I've only just recently signed up again. I'm not attached to either Shay or Doug, so this doesn't hit me so hard. But, I agree that it's tough to have these quasi-friendships destroyed at a moment's notice.

Finally, I'll throw out one other idea. None of this illicit activity happened on camera. Therefore, this brings up the question of reasonable expectations of employers. Some employers have morality clauses as conditions of employment. Yet, where is the line between being a representative of the company that employs you and your own free will as a person? It seems to me that Fratpad performers are expected to abide by the "rules" 24/7, even though they are only on camera a few hours per day. I have no doubt that this something the site owner can do (particularly when it comes to underage drinking on his property). I do, however, wonder if it is completely ethical.

It's always rough when favorites leave the pad (especially when it is not by their choice) but its a cycle within the pad and anyone who's been a member for a while has seen it happen many times. How many of us were upset when Ricky, Kent, and Dean left? But Dean came back for a while, and other fun guys showed up (like DIGGY!!!) and the pad was still fun. I still miss Diggy and I'll always miss Kelan but I'm very happy to watch and get to know Taj. Is he incredible or WHAT?!?! Taylor has quickly become a fan favorite with his great looks, crazy sense of humor, willingness to please, and he can hold a very intelligent conversation. Jayden pushes the boundaries more than any other frat I've ever seen at the pad. Ty can be controversial at times but I love chatting with him. Max has several fans. And Leo, of course, is the glue that keeps it all together. I'll miss Shay and Doug, but I wouldn't be surprised if they popped up as Alumnus sooner or later. Stranger things have happened.

I'm sure they will be back in the future, maybe its a good thing that they were removed from a possible detrimental situation.

"It's always rough when favorites leave the pad but its a cycle within the pad"

Yeah, and death is a part of life's natural cycle, but we still cry at funerals.

Tell me about it... I still get weepy at the thought of a Diggy-less pad

Leo, of course, is the glue that keeps it all together.

LMAO....that old horse is still there??? I woulda thought he'd be out to pasture by now or is he just the management's enforcer behind the scenes now???

Shay’s goodbye was very difficult to watch. Anyone with a heart knows that the kid is very special, always happy and cheerful. His personality is appealing because he’s got such a fresh hopeful outlook on life, despite being dealt such a bad lot in life.

On one hand I can’t fault John for asking him to go. There are rules, and being at the Fratpad is a unique job; each member is in fact the company’s product, and they have to represent themselves properly at all times. Even though he was the target of some bigoted attacks, he should have been the better man and walked away. The mature thing to do isn’t always the easy thing to do.

The problem is of course, Shay is an 18yo. He’s a young kid who does what 18yos often do. He has an 18yo’s view of things. He got into a fight, he messed around. Strictly applying the rules, there’s no what-ifs or buts; break a rule and your out, the rule was there and you knew about it. But there is inherent tension and conflict in the Fratpad system. As a poster mentioned earlier, you have to give these kids some leeway beyond the rules. You hire them to do things that are generally frowned on by society at large, encourage them to push the limits to garner more revenue, but hold them accountable for pushing outside what are in reality difficult to navigate waters, life outside their hours on cam. One wonders, is there any guidance other than a reference to company policy when a rule is broken?

The Fratpad is indeed unique because you are encouraged to care about the members. Of course, whenever a guy leaves, John just tells people that there will be “fresh” guys coming. On one hand you are encouraged to care, on the other hand you are told that the guys are nothing more than replaceable pieces of meat, and that fresh meat is always coming. A cynic would walk away wondering if any of the “friendships” on the pad are fake, both between the guys there, and between the guys and the members. It is a business after all.

In any case, anyone who has worked with young adults knows, they do a lot of their learning from their mistakes. Hopefully this is a learning experience for Shay, and it would be a pity if his personality turns cynical from this. He is a very sweet kid and it’s no accident so many are protective of him. I really wish the best for him.

I just noticed his goodbye vid is up. I recently joined the pad (like 3 days ago), so I'm not as emotionally invested as some of the posters above. Still, it was hard to watch. It always is when someone breaks down in front of you. Poor guy. He was the main reason I joined. Bummer for me, too. But I wish him luck!

LMAO....that old horse is still there??? I woulda thought he'd be out to pasture by now or is he just the management's enforcer behind the scenes now???

Well, Leo is the manager of the pad. He does the schedule. He plans and organizes every Fratpad Friday. He processes the private shows and the duos. He handles billing problems. He tapes and uploads the antics videos (more new antics posted last week!). He handles support email. He appears on cam. And most of all, he makes me smile. :D Leo an old horse? A stallion perhaps, but not an old horse.

I must say that this is disappointing. I am disappointed in Doug and Shay for their actions but I think there should be some other penalty other than expulsion.
When I was a chapter adviser for a real Fraternity, if someone messed up, as kids do, they had to do something to make up for it. That could have been a fine or suspension but expulsion was limited to rare occasions.
I am not sure if Doug and Shay were fighting between them selves or what happened but in this situation, no one wins.
I am believer in having some what of a gray area for John to decide what should happen to these guys. Now, the whole site is at risk of going under.
Maybe John and Leo should develop a review board of some long time members and if a situation like this happens again, John will have the guys plead their case to the review board and let the people who pay to watch the site, decide the best action for the guys.
I just hope that John and Leo can keep the other guys around. If they lose Max, Taylor or Jayden I am out and will spend my money somewhere else.
Maybe these guys need an incentive to behave such as a scholarship or something more tangable than what they have currently.
