Not sure if it works with paid-Youtube content (you might have to experiment), but the free "Clipgrab" is solid - https://clipgrab.org/. PLEASE NOTE: I strongly recommend on the "Download ClipGrab" link, you NOT use the blue shaded download option, but instead, scroll down to "Show all Download Options", and select this option:

ClipGrab for Windows may contain third-party offers by installCore (privacy policy). Download version without third-party offers.

I have used Free Youtube Downloader and been happy with it, however it has been glitchy and not worked. It worked yesterday but today it didnt work.
I tried Clipgrab. It worked great however Free Youtube Downloader took less effort to use.
But I discovered Internet Download Manager and it is very easy to use. Click on the link, choose the quality, and clikc on 'start download'

I think Im switching . . .

update: I downdloaded 8 videos in about 80 seconds. Make sure you restart and it is for Google Chrome. I dont know about Firefox

For $12/month I find it easier to just pay them and put items I really want in my downloaded library. Seeing vids without the blasted ads is amazing!

I'm not sure if Bandicam would suit your purpose but I use it a lot. The free version has some limitations, such as having the Bandicam logo at the top of the screen, but this disappears if you buy a modestly priced life-time subscription ...

Mass or in singular, it doesn't really matter, I just want to go back to my old days of mass-downloading youtube videos that ended when firefox purged all of the extensions tackling the sort of thing. Would be nice if I could get HD or 4K.

You might look at Youtube-DL at https://youtube-dl.org/ - it has rich options in terms of quality, grabbing an entire channel, closed captions, etc. and is pretty well-regarded as a power tool. There's a bit of a learning curve as it's command-line (no GUI), so requires some learning investment (but worth it). But there are graphical wrappers that people have written such as https://github.com/MrS0m30n3/youtube-dl-gui that sit on top of it that help make it easier to use.

If your needs are pretty simple you might also look at Clipgrab (my post #5 up there) that works well and is used by many.
