Dr.Death-Jack Kevorkian dies at 83 years old

I actually got to meet the man -- he was tried in our city for one of his "projects" and the case ended up in a mistrial due to the antics of his attorney.

He was one of the creepiest persons I ever met; he also seemed to enjoy people dying to the point of watching physical reactions, documenting them with photos, etc. It was his own actions that resulted in him going to prison for he went from assisting people to die to killing one.

As for what is right or wrong; I watched my sister, mother, aunt, and two brothers-in-law die of cancer. There was no dignity at the end of their life and I wish it had been legal to give them the medication and allow them to end their lives.

I will give Kevorkian a compliment that he raised the issue; I just think his zealousness and methods did as much damage as it helped.

Not to mention that I'm pretty sure I remember, before his prison term, that he was talking about the utility of harvesting organs from the people who chose assisted suicide. In other words, assigning a profit motive to the process.

I think that got him more naysayers as well, but this story has entirely vanished over the years.

Thank hell for him. Of course, he's the villain in a world coerced by religious teachings(the stuff about organ harvesting is new and disturbing, if true).

All the same, I can only hope I earn the right to kill myself when the time comes. Not that I give two shits about the law in this regard - keep me alive to drive my loved ones into debt just to keep me dying? No fucking thanks, government zombies.

To Jack Springer: I would have answered your post - but fortunately I now have no need to do so - as others have done so rather eloquently.

I would however request that you review your opinion to include some degree of compassion and commonsense.

Compassion and common sense? You are honoring a man who helped people kill themselves.

Wanting to kill people is not normal.

Life doesn't end with death here on earth.

Prove it............

That's it?

If anything, at least you were worth a chuckle. ..|

It's not a laughing matter.

I'm not gonna do anything to change you and the others opinions.

No more comments from me, unless you get ugly.

It's not a laughing matter.

Someone that believes we should remain planted onto this earth and suffer needlessly because some "god" told us we'd be punished if we didn't, all the while draining our resources and that of our families because some government needs us to live until we expire "naturally" is laughable to me.

Laughable, and extremely infuriating.

I'm not asking you to agree, and really don't care if you do or don't. But telling me to "read the bible" as a viable answer is absurd when there is a humane solution that's really very simple. No one should have to go through a terminal disease - but even worse, no one should have to pay medical bills out the ass to just lay in a bed, waiting to die, with medicine to prolong both the life and the suffering.

Your bible doesn't teach much empathy. Ah well.

The guy was a jerk and a murderer. He should have died in prison.

Death is not natural. PM me and I'll explain.

Having your lawyer at your side when you pass ... priceless.

How the hell is death not natural? It's a vital part of the ecosystem in which we live. Things grow old, then die, then return to the earth. Natural.

Also, was it murder when we took my grandpa off life support to end his suffering?
