whos your favourite Dr who companion mine i have to say is Donna noble ..catherine tate was Brilliant made me laugh made me cry

Ace, The Seventh Doctor's last protégée. The companions since Ace have been sort of sad shadows of the pre-reboot companions as a whole. But especially if you put Ace in all her slightly genius, slightly punkish bomb building glory next to that wet blanket Rose Tyler -- you see which generation comes up short.

Or as my livejournal icon used to say: "My fandom traded rickety sets for rickety scripts."

Sarah Jane. And a fairly close second is Tegan.

Tegan and Turlough with Peter Davison are who I first remember when I was very young (7-9)

Then just a few years later (11-15) when I started buying the VHS releases, they were mostly stories from the mid-70's, with Sarah Jane either with Jon Pertwee or Tom Baker.

I am FAR more a fan of the original show (1963-1989) than I ever am of the rather comical, silly, and childish antics of the modern show (2005-)

The last few months I've been watching the old black-and-white William Hartnell/Patrick Troughton episodes, including recreations of the stories now deleted and missing from BBC archives. The audio still exists of them.

The new, current series is just about watchable I suppose, but it simply doesn't have the magic and character of the original.

Catherine Tate. <3 Wasn't sure how I'd react to her in Doctor Who since I've only seen her be comedic, but she was brilliant.

Another vote for Donna Noble here. I also have a soft spot for Rose, Romana and Leela.

Doctor Who has such a fantastic list of female representation.

This vid isn't fully up to date with the modern show, but....

....see how many of them you can recognise and name!

Yes i have to agree Catherine Tate was probably the best companion ever plus i loved Sarah Jane back in the old Tom Baker days.

Sarah is the only one I remember. I stopped watching after Tom Baker moved on.

I'm becoming quite the Rory fan of late. Arthur Darvill's got brilliant comedic timing, is growing his character and looks quite good in his centurion outfit!

I started watching Dr. Who with David Tennant and since then, I've loved Rose, and Amy Pond the most. While not exactly a companion, I'm really liking River Song too.

(I think Matt Smith is HOT too!!) :luv:

Old series with Tom Baker, I'd say Sarah Jane. I was really sad when she passed...

New series.... Yeah, not a companion, but I like River Song.

I'm only acquainted with the new series so.... Captain Jack Harkness!!!! (He's in the intro credits, so that has to count as at least being a guest companion)

Donna Noble is a close second

^^^^
I would have listed Jack Harkness, but couldn't remember his name when I made my list.

I haven't seen the series pre-2005.

Did the Doctor ever travel solely with a male companion?! Curious.

In order of popularity:
