One of the absolute best first-love-between-two-boys stories ever written has now been made into a movie. I know I am not alone when stating that your first love is the most memorable, most beautiful, and, usually the most tragic of all others, and it's wonderful to see such beauty expressed in a story of first gay love. The book is amazing, and I hope the movie will be just as good.

The book is by Jim Grimsley, is only about 200 pages, making it a quick read that is incredibly rewarding.

The movie was directed by James Bolton - no better person to direct a movie about growing up gay in the south than a person that grew up gay in the south.

Here is the trailer for the film (with German subtitles, as it's first release was in Germany). When this film will be released in the US, I don't know, but I have been anxiously waiting for it ever since I heard it was being made a year ago.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing. I am gonna have to look this book up, the story seems intriguing.

I'll watch it.

I'm sure stupid people will probably think all gay people are gay because other gay people raped or molested them when they were younger though.

While the topic is of concern from all I have seem it is well worth seeing. What I have seem it will be released on DVD in April 2009.

I'm really interested in seeing this movie. I remember reading the story my Freshmen year of high school: the movie seems to pretty much follow the book.

I loved..loved..loved the movie!!!!

It was sooooo sweet and beautiful. I feel in love with the story all over again.

I loved the movie as well. I have to say, I'm glad that the makers of the film didn't veer from the events of the book.
