One of the absolute best first-love-between-two-boys stories ever written has now been made into a movie. I know I am not alone when stating that your first love is the most memorable, most beautiful, and, usually the most tragic of all others, and it's wonderful to see such beauty expressed in a story of first gay love. The book is amazing, and I hope the movie will be just as good.
The book is by Jim Grimsley, is only about 200 pages, making it a quick read that is incredibly rewarding.
The movie was directed by James Bolton - no better person to direct a movie about growing up gay in the south than a person that grew up gay in the south.
Here is the trailer for the film (with German subtitles, as it's first release was in Germany). When this film will be released in the US, I don't know, but I have been anxiously waiting for it ever since I heard it was being made a year ago.
