DREAMGIRLS!!! Finally got to see it!

Yeah, Bill really dropped the ball with the damn script. Worst part of the film.

I agree that the script wasnt the best but it got the job done. After JHud finished "And I Am Telling You", I almost felt like I could leave. The movie could only go down from there. She SANG and acted her ASS OFF during that number. I also never saw an audience react to something on-screen the way they did in the theater I saw it in. After she finishes, this guy in front me goes "Alright Beyonce, lets see whatchu got".

At the end credits after everyone's been named and it finally says "And Introducing....Jennifer Hudson"
EVERYONE in the theater applauded for her! A number of people stood up and applauded.

Wow on that final note of "And I'm Telling..." and you see her face and hear that final note......wow I was holding my breath the hold time. She literally took my breath my away. I'm so proud of Miss Hudson!

They say when you're having a good time, time flies. Well, if you're having a good time at the movies, you don't notice how long the movie is. Dreamgirls started at 2:40, I didn't get out of the theatre until after 5:00. I didn't notice how long this movie was at all. I was so engaged I couldn't take my eyes off the screen.

Dreamgirls is the best movie I saw in years. The script was so well written. Jennifer Hudson was amazing. Eddie Murphy was hilarious, Anika Noni Rose and Jamie Fox was terrific, and Beyonce was surprisingly very very good. As much as I love Beyonce (unlike others) I never thought she was a good actress, but you could tell she had some acting lessons with this role.

The audience clapped at least three times during the movie, and gave it a standing ovation at the end. If this movie doesn't win any awards it will be a travesty. But we all know it could happen. Remember The Color Purple?

I give Dreamgirls two thumbs up and a wave. ..| ..|

I will be going again to see this movie next week.

I finally got to see this thing today and overall it was a good movie but there was only one HUGE thing wrong about the film as a whole: the script was horribly under-written which dragged down the entire film. I'm surprised since Bill Condon won the Oscar for writing Chicago, but wow the first hour of the movie just zoomed by me!

I'm sorry but I disagree with your comment about the script. I actually liked Dreamgirls more than Chicago. Dreamgirls caught my attention the moment it started, and didn't let it go til the end.

Everyone did an amazing acting performance (again, except for Deena; sorry Beyonce please stick to singing).

Were we watching the same movie? Deena was a character that is meek and mild tempered. It was a character that didn't require a lot of strength. That's why I think Beyonce did so well with it. No, Beyonce wasn't as good as Jennifer, Anika, Jamie, or Eddie, but Beyonce did an amazing job, especially when you compare it to the other roles she did in the past. Give her some credit.

It's funny how two people can see the same movie and leave with two different impressions. This movie was fantastic and , for me, lived up to the hype.

Beyonce's SINGING was great...as expected. But the acting? I give her credit for being better than her other horrid performances but it was still sub par. Looking at the wrong people at the wrong times, saying the lines like she was reading a damn book, having a blank look on her face 89% of the film...she just plain sucked. Acting requires talent...and it's just something you either have or you don't. Unfortunately she doesn't. She needs to take her own advice and go to the left, to the left.

Same thing happened where I was. Jennifer did make me hold my breath I knew that the moment was coming but when the song started I just froze. I mean damn she is amazing and she can act as well.

I really really liked it but is not the year`s best go and watch Pan`s Labyrinth, Little children, Shortbus, Volver and Babel

Just got back from seeing the movie about a half hour ago. The music and the performances were the best parts of the film, and I agree with others that the script was the weakest. I needed another twenty minutes of characterization so that I could feel for the characters more. The story moved so fast that the characters felt somewhat hollow to me--a lot of tell and no show. Something as important as Curtis bedding Deena was done with a subtle look between the two and a line from Effie.

As far as Beyonce's acting, I thought she did a fine job. Is she blank through most of the movie? Yes--as is her character. The whole point of her throughout the movie is that she is Curtis's canvas until she actually starts to feel stifled. Her actiing happens in her eyes--in the montage where she is being photographed in different looks, it's her eyes that say she is unhappy and trapped in the images he projects onto her. When she sings "Listen," she lets all the emotion poor out and really acts. Watch her perform it in the movie, and then watch her perform it on one of the many shows she's been on recently to promote the film.

To me, the biggest misstep was Jamie Foxx as Curtis. His character was two dimensional and flat as the villain of the piece, and his performance was the same. One could see why Lorrelle loved Jimmy, but it was not apparent at all what drove two women to love this man. By the second half of the film I expected Foxx to twist his mustache and laugh maniacally as he tied Deena to the train tracks.

Still, an amazingly energetic movie with incredible music and performances. In a dismal year of film, a nice way to end it.

Saw The Movie! Flawless!
The Entire cast. Flawless!

Blueboy369.

I am a huge Diana Ross Fan and didn't really love it. I wished it had been more about the real group and used the Supreemes original music...It would have been way Way better......

There was no doubt about it...It was the supreemes base story...

I guess I was dissapointed...I still think Beyonce is incredibly beautiful and all the singers were outstanding...

Didn't Jennifer Holliday sing the main song...?

This movie is fantastic and ALL of the performances were incredible. Regarding Beyonce, in my opinion she is a better actress then Jennifer Hudson. To me, she was the star of the show, though they all rocked!

I saw it yesterday only because a friend paid for me. I'd told him I refused to see any movie Beyonce was in, let alone a movie where she's claimed to be the star. Puh-leaze! I actually enjoyed it though. I would recommend seeing it as a good piece of entertainment.

I was suprised at how much I enjoyed Eddie Muphy--even his singing. And of course Jennifer Hudson was quite amazing.

And yes, Beyonce fans may say what they want, but the Broadway show really is Effie's show which is why her character is the only one who has a solo song. The wailing Beyonce's character does near the end of the movie was simply to showcase he mediocre singing talents.

By far though, one of my favourite actors in the movie also happened to have a great voice and is the best looking person in the cast. Keith Robinson who plays C.C. is hot!! Unfortunately, he's not big (yet) so there aren't many good pics of him on-line. Coming soon, I hope...

I was wondering if anyone else here noticed this very good looking and extremely talented actor in the film. I left the theater immediately wanting to see him in other things.

I don't know how anyone could not notice him!

I finally got to see this movie yesterday 1/9 - I'm usually not a fan of musicals so I was a little skeptical going in.

This movie blew me away, excellent singing and in the theatre that I saw it in Jennifer Hudson got an ovation for her performance 2 times. I have never witnessed that in my life before in a movie theatre.

I like the early Motown sound, and they did it good with this picture.

Go see it!!!
