Do any of you remember the original Broadway soundtrack to Dreamgirls? It came out in 1981. In my opinion, the music was far superior to the movie version. Here are a few links to the sounds of the original Broadway soundtrack.

I hope to read positive posts from guys who also love the original soundtrack!

I loved the play, but it was not the original people. Great music.

Yup...bought it the first Friday it came out.....still have it..the LP and CD...I don't have the Beyonce version of Dreamgirls....

On a side note..Jennifer Holliday just pulled out of Trump's inauguration due to the protests of her LGBT fans.....

Here she is in the late 80s at an AIDS benefit....

Some dear friends of mine saw the original play and Jennifer Holiday brought the house down with And I'm Telling You I'm Not going Huge standing ovation and well deserved.

My partner and I saw her in concert in a very small auditorium about a year and a half ago. She talked about her life, her career. She answered questions from the audience. She was the kind of person you'd love to have over for dinner. She was very humble, down to earth. NOT AT ALL a diva. She seems like "good folk".

By The Way-

Jennifer's voice sounded almost identical live as it did on the original soundtrack from 1981 and she sang some songs from other 1980's albums. Her voice is very strong, and she sounds like she did a long time ago. If she ever comes to your town and puts on a concert, go!!!

If you remember the soundtrack, please urge your friends to read these posts. Thanks!

This soundtrack was sent to me by mistake by the Columbia records cd club, remember those things? I try to returned it because I had not ordered it, but they said just to keep it. Not long ago, I played it because I thought it would be a very gay thing to listen to and I knew my partner would ask me to stop, but to both our surprise, we really enjoyed it.
