Drunk drivers redux

Thanks, all. And hey, ben, thanks for turning this thread back onto what's really important - your intense dislike for stacy.

Sorry to interrupt. Carry on, you two. ..| :)

That sounded scary. Happy to hear that you were able to walk away from it.(*8*)

A friend of mine got slamed into last year and by a drunk guy and the dude drove away. Luckily another car saw what happened and raced behind him to get the License number.

^^^ Holy shit Lex! :eek::eek::eek:

How fast was this bastard going again?

(and is it wrong that I think the tag you picked for this thread is hysterical? LOL!)

Here is to your
first anniversary on JUB
Lex
You're first class.

Also, my condolences on the terrible car accident. I was in a bad one about 7 and 1/2 years ago, and that I walk or am alive is nothing short of a miracle. I hope you repair quickly, and may the streets all around you be clear of DUIs. I hope he loses his license, and perhaps has a stiff fine for the mess he caused.

Shep+

i swear to god, drunk drivers should be hung up and caned until they pass out. these stupid fuckers will never learn.

that being said, i'm glad you're all right lex. god knows it could have been worse.

Lex by the look of your car I think someone upstairs was
watching over you. I am so happy that you could walk from
that, also that no one else was hurt seriously.

Keep moving but take it just a little easy for awhile. Hugs to
you. (*8*) (*8*) shea

Some are crediting "someone upstairs". I'm crediting a well-designed car and me wearing my seat belt. :)

Those cars are designed to crumble in an accident, that way the absorb most of the shock and affect the driver less.

Mine got like that when I totaled it (a guy went through a red light)

I was coming home from Job #2 late last night. Stopped behind a guy at a red light, when I glanced up and noticed a guy coming up behind me. "He's going awfully fast," I thought idly, looked away, then looked back. "He's still going awfully fast...and he's not slowing down." All I could do then was brace for impact.

He hit. Hard.

My car flew forward, hit the car in front of me, then rolled to the side. I let out my breath, then put the car in Park, and prepared to get out, trying to remember all the stuff one needs to do after an accident (I've never been in one before).

The guy who hit me backed up a bit, drove around both of us, and left.

I managed to get a partial license number, which was amazing considering I was still quite woozy from the crash, and all I could really think was "He's fucking LEAVING?!" The guy in the other car got a partial description of the guy and the vehicle, as well.

Somehow, I'm fine. My head bumped against something (possibly the sun visor), and I've got a bit of stiffness in both my arms and my neck this morning. But when I saw the back of the car, I realized how lucky I was. The thing is absolutely totalled. Even the driver's seat was broken into pieces. I managed to get all the important stuff out of the trunk (via the backseat - no way I could open the trunk now), but some stuff was wedged in there so tightly it ain't ever coming out.

Cops came, took information.
Ambulance came, did a cursory check on me. I was OK.

The truck left some debris of its own in the street. Between that and our descriptions, they found the guy within minutes. He was so drunk he couldn't understand their request for a DUI test.

Finally got into bed around 3am. Didn't sleep all that well, but I guess that's no surprise. I may go to work late today, or come home early. And it looks like I'm walking for the foreseeable future.

On a brighter note, it's my one year anniversary here on JUB! Yay!

Lex

There should be a required test every time you get inside a vehicle to conduct it. There was the story of this football player who ran over 20 people, killed half of them and maimed the other half, and in the same evening he went out partying. Who allows an animal like that to even live outside a zoo cell, let alone drive cars?

Wow. Let me add my voice to all those expressing thanks that you are OK. (*8*)

And that you apparently didn't pee in your pants -- or, if you did, you didn't mention it. :D

I only mention it because that's my tendency when I get into accidents. #-o

Now, take it easy and keep moving as much as you can. I hope the soreness doesn't last too long.

*gingerly* (*8*)

Never ceases to amaze me when I see pics like this that no was hurt badly---"G" you are a lucky sum' bitch ;)---Hope you are feeling better and the insurance companies are not to big a problem to deal with--

Hope that asshole has something to go after If need be--- :grrr:

Lex, I'm glad to hear you are OK. That looks like a really bad impact and you're very lucky. The car can be replaced, but we could never replace our gargoyle. I hope the drunk driver has to serve some jail time.

>>>You were actually surprised? The first thing ALL drunk drivers do is take off...

Well, I didn't know the guy was drunk yet. :) It was likely, given the day and time, but I only had had about, oh, fifteen seconds to give any thought at all to the situation. And most of that fifteen seconds I was in "survival mode".

Had a rough time getting out of bed this morning, but apparently that's to be expected. Once I'm up and moving, there's just some very minor soreness here and there. I haven't made an appointment to see my doctor yet because, well, I don't have an easy way to GET there yet. :) Looks like we'll be renting a car today, in which case the appointment will be made.

Thanks for all the well-wishes!

Lex

Lex first off im sorry for what happened and glad you are alright, And best wishes for a speedy recovery

Congrats on the anniversary tho :)

Now I have a new record age for a DUI I arrested two days ago. Good he didnt cause an accident and he was only 16years old, by far my new record for DUI's (next youngest was 19). Hopefully he learned his lesson Im sure his passenger did. No license or driving for a few years for that kid.

Fighting DWI's one driver at a time!!:)
