So I have a problem and have had it for many years...on my testacles the skin becomes EXTREMELY dry and itchy and sometimes I get what can only be compared to tiny rips or tears on my sac. In addition, I have one area near my penis that is always itchy and red as well

I have been to the doctor several times before and they just say to use extra dry skin lotion...but its not working...
As you can tell this makes my extremely insecure...!oops!!oops!!oops!!oops!

Any help...please?!

As a dry skin sufferer too, I've had so many steroid creams, and in all of them, they tell you not to put steroid cream near your gonads, or face. However, that'll depend on Doctor supervision. There's that E45 HC which contains hydrocortisone which you can buy over the counter which is mild. Try also wearing looser clothing around your crotch, and use baby oil to soften the skin if ordinary emolients don't work. Cocoa butter might be helpful.

I suffer from this as well on the end of my elbows and have tried everything , they are dry sometimes they will crack as well , i have tried heaps of creams and lotions and even heel crack lotion but to no avail . It is rather embarrasing as well

Next time you see your doc, ask him if it could not be a fungal infection. They are quite common, and surprisingly easy to get. The effect of a fungal infection is very much like you describe, dry skin and hopeless itchiness. I've used Canesten cream with great success on jock itch. Go lightly at first to be sure it does not unduly irritate you. Apply morning and night and try to avoid scratching too much. Within 5 days you should notice a significant change.

Thanks guys for the help and advice...I am going to try and get an appointment with a good dermatologist soon...the area I go to school in is somewhat in the middle of no where so I have to drive a few hours to get to a good doctor...

In the mean time I am going to try some of the stuff y'all suggested....

could also be psoriasis

skin problems are the pits because none of them can really be cured, derms. can only treat the symptoms - i know, i've had all kinds of funky skin issues during my life - fortunately, none of them too serious or long-term

Kind of new but anyway...I ,too, USED to suffer from dry elbow skin and a little psoriasis on my hand which made my skin crack. A friend told me about " Udderly Smooth Udder Cream" which is similar to stuff used on a cows udder/teets to keep it from chafing. It actually has a picture of a cow on the label but I got it at a drug store so I'm not sure about that.

Anyway, this stuff worked wonders for me. It's goes on pretty easy, only stays greasy feeling for a few minutes and doesn't have any perfume smell.

Now I know you guys are getting a good laugh at this and frankly, so am I - but seriously...do not try to use this as lube.

Good luck.

BTW, I'm in Canada so I'm not sure about availability elsewhere.

I had the exact same problem, for years. I also suffer from psoriasis, so I thought it was simply a patch of psoriasis in an embarrassing spot. My doctor took a look at it and said, "Oh, you have a fungal infection. It's exacerbating the psoriasis." He told me to try Lotramin Ultra (once a day), and to my pleasure it worked.

Believe it or not, I have the miracle product for psoriasis. I have suffered from psoriasis for 25 years. During that time, I have tried all sorts of creams, salves, injections, treatments, etc; only two things have worked. First, photochemotherapy or light treatments were effective, but unfortunately, my insurance stopped covering the treatment, and within about six months, my psoriasis was back at full strength.

The second solution for me was a product called Phyto Chi. I take it once or twice a day, and within a month, I noticed some pretty amazing results. A few months into it, my psoriasis is almost un-detectable. What is even more astonishing is that the product is not expressly made to combat psoriasis. I can't imagine what they would charge if they knew that it cured this problem.

I swear to God that I have nothing to do with this product and I stand to make no profit from any increased sales. However, I think anyone who has suffered from psoriasis is desperate to find relief and eager to share it when they do.
