Although I'm not from the US, I voted for Birgit anyway...

Within Temptation - liked the song but heard their music done before and better

ANOUK - meh, don't like her voice. Always sounds a bit forced, like she's never relaxed - makes it very difficult to listen to her for very long. And again heard the same thing done better.

So Birgit with her quirky laidback pop is my choice... I also like the way the video contains four consecutive zooms on her breasts in the middle 8.
 
I can see why Birgit went down the acoustic band route on American TV but I think it makes her sound like a generic female singer, nothing special. On the other hand, maybe that's what's needed to break in the US rather than the UK.
 
Within Temptation sounds like a better version of evenesence. I absolutely love them.

ANOUK is very soulful... sorta reminded me of Tori Amos

and Birgit just sounds fun....

But I voted for Withing Temptation... I love their song...Angels...and the video for it rocks
 
Within Temptation! I think their new style is not as good as the one on the older records, but I think the new material is more accessible for the American audiences.

btw, Evanescence and WT were both formed at similar times (1996-7), but Ev didn't release anything until 1998
 
I just bought that whole Within Temptation album... I love it.

Yeah, it's a lot more polished than their older albums but I think the song wriitng is better too.

I agree, in my opinion The Heart of Everything is a good blend of the polishedness of The Silent Force and the raw earthlyness of Mother Earth.

I wish they'd still use grunts, perhaps not smother the album in them, but a bit here and there to spice it up a little. I love Robert's grunts :gogirl:
