I'm trying to get a very short dvd, it's only like 6 minutes long, onto my computer and I don't know how. Can somenoe help me?...

Very specific detailed insturctions would be nice :)

Hmmm....you can try going to afterdawn.com and going to their "guides" section. They have a shitload of guides for DVD related stuff.

I copy the video_ts folder on the cd to my hard drive then use windvd to play the folder from its source / folder button.

be aware that in the US it still is mostly illegal to copy a DVD to your computer - unless it is not encrypted (which most DVDs are, that is why you need some special program to copy them)

Even if its for my own personal use? Last night I was trying to figure out how to rip Star Wars Episode III onto my brother's iPod.

there is something called "fair use" and that totally pisses the industry off.
so you could be lucky if it actually came to a process.

but in general: you have to bypass "CSS" the "content scrambling system" on the DVD. which is bypassing a copy protection and that is forbidden by the DMCA.

actually the legality of copying DVDs for personal use is still majorly yet to be determined (in the US). Some people say it's legal, others not legal. If it's a DVD you made of grandma's home movies, there is NO issue, copy it all you want. If it's a DVD you bought of Extreme Movie X, and you want to copy it for a backup... well that's the nebulous issue.
