Also, do you think Blu-ray Discs will ever overtake DVDs at some point?

I buy DVD's more often. And no I don't think Blu-Ray will overtake.

Unless they drop in price dramatically. The jump from VHS was, in my opinion, necessary. The jump from DVD to Blu-Ray is insubstantial - HDTV? For films where people already look real?

Seems very unnecessary to me.

I watch almost all Blu-ray, unless a title I really want to see is on DVD only. On a hdtv home theater system, Blu-ray does have a much better visual and audio quality.

Obviously blu-ray will overtake DVD once more people get hidef TVs and blu-ray players.

Blu-Rays look better. Which is fine unless you, like me, have lousy eyesight. :)

Right now DVD. BluRays starting tomorrow when Pubert gets his player. And after that, whichever is cheaper/easier to get.

It's not just a matter of blu-rays looking better: they also hold more, so we're lookign at smaller packaging, which is beneficial to the environment and is a better use of resources. What would fit on six DVDs can now easily fit on two or three blu-ray discs.

Also, people said DVD wouldn't overtake VHS - we see how it's necessary because most of us were fairly young when all of this happened, but the truth is the same will happen with blu-rays. The prices will go down (and they already have actually, you can get some blu-rays for ten dollars) and more people will buy them.

It's more than just better picture, the discs are capable of more.

I've just started buying Blu-Ray's. I can't tell if it's my player but it seems to load a lot longer than DVD's. I don't know if I'm going to stay on this train much longer.

When it comes to slow load times: it's definitely the player. My parent's blu-ray player takes a second now and then, whereas my PS3 never has loading times.

for now dvd's only cuz i dont have a bluray player or hgtv, but i'll upgrade to bluray soon i'm sure. the good thing about bluray is i dont have to replace my dvd collection, i'll just start getting bluray discs of things i dont own on dvds, and the quality truly is amazing.

I'll stick with DVD...Blu-Ray just feels like I'm looking at the actual dailies from right off the set and that just throws me out the movie big time

though cartoons looks much better on blu-ray....thats its only saving grace for me

DVD's are cheaper so I go for those for now, however I love the quality of blue-rays, especially on a 50" hdtv.

Sure the quality of Blu-Ray is better than regular DVD but not more physical media for me. I'm waiting for the quality of downloads to improve before I switch.

DVD but I'm sure Blu-Ray will take over in the next few years. Can't keep up with technology!!

You don't get the Home & Garden channel? That sucks  Or did you mean HDTV? :p

I'm waiting for the next advancement - Green Ray.

I borrow both regular and Blu-Ray from our library system. They have a great collection. You can borrow up to 10 at a time. The best part is that it's free. They even mail them to you at a dollar each.

i don't much care for the quality of the movie, it's just i want to see the movie

I just recently got a new TV so I will be planning to buy some movies in Blu-Ray mostly the action movies that I already have on DVD but don't look as great unless I bought an HDMI DVD player which upscales DVD's.

I don't want to go down the digital root - nothing is ever completely safe there. I like my DVD's in boxes.

I'm sure they have special features on DVD's you just have to buy the special features one. Star Trek had 3 versions....
