E. Lynn Harris has passed on

WTF!! I have read all of his books. He is my second favorite author behind Stephen King. To me Harris books are a easy read ;once you start to read ; you are hooked. I will miss him

I never bought his books...I always thought he was nice-looking...What was the cause of death?

From what I have read it is unknown other than recently he had a serious decline in health but they were not specific as to what that decline was.

Interesting...The last time i saw him was on Oprah way back when...Women really loved his books. I think i'm gonna buy his 1st book just to see how good of a story-teller he was...

This is so sad..He was my favorite author!!..His books were the first that I read that had gay characters as the lead!!...He will truly be missed!..

This year is like 2006 for me with a lot people dying...

Never understood why any of his books didn't crossover to the big screen.

RIP :(

I was reading this article at CNN he was amazingly generous. I always loved the way he wrote. But, I had no idea just how generous he was. Reading this article, and how they spoke of his love of his fans, how he helped other writers, and they took noticed that he was a frontrunner and pioneer in creating a genre, simply amazing.

Long before the secret world of closeted black gay men came to light in America, bestselling author E. Lynn Harris introduced a generation of black women to the phenomenon known as the "down low."

Harris endeared such characters to readers who were otherwise unfamiliar with them, using themes and backdrops familiar to urban professionals, conditioned by their upbringings, their church leaders or their friends to condemn and criticize homosexuality in the African-American community. A proud Razorback cheerleader at the University of Arkansas who struggled with his own sexuality before becoming a pioneer of gay black fiction, Harris died Thursday at age 54 while promoting his latest book in Los Angeles.

My god -- all of these people dropping dead at 50 or in their 50s -- what is going on?

OMG!

I am stunned that he is gone!

I did not hear of his passing....

I too love, love, love his style of writing....perhaps because a lot of his locales are places where I grew up in and around; but damn, he was truly a fantastic gay author.

However, I don't think him just writing about Africian Americans was short-sighted either; for I know many, many gay, white, men who love(d)/love his works....

Thank goodness his legacy will continue on in the written word; and now perhaps a screen play will be developed around one/some of his books....

You think?

RIP!(*8*)

Oh yes Basil...Can't forget Kyle from Invisible Life!!!!...Some one needs to write the script and at least make a HBO movie out of one of his books!!...
and don't forget about Quinn;)
