This Bill proposes that anyone charged with an offence under the legislation will be presumed guilty until the accused proves their own innocence beyond a reasonable doubt. This is in direct contravention with Article 6.2 of the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission Act 2014, which makes clear ‘everyone charged with a criminal offence shall be presumed innocent until proven guilty.’

Looking at the legislation, I do not see where “anyone charged with an offence under the legislation will be presumed guilty until the accused proves their own innocence beyond a reasonable doubt.” The term “guilty” appears 49 times in the text of the bill, while the term “presumed” appears 11 times. These do not substantiate the claim of “guilty until proven innocent.”

LGB is completely fed up and tired of being lumped into everything that the TQ plus Community is doing. Even when you look at these websites like GLSEN and HRC, a lot of the LGBTQ initiatives have everything to do with the TQ plus. I've talked about my concerns. I've talked about my problems with trans kids. But this one's a big one because the LGB keeps getting lumped into the TQ plus and that plus is so dangerous, because I think people are just adding things to it and it's just being accepted and okay and I don't want any part of that. And there's a lot of LGBT people who feel the same way.

If Amir Odom’s views are representative of the Not All Gays group, then I suspect their primary concern may be that their apparent disdain for TQ+ people could land them in trouble when the new law is enacted.
