El Cenizo watch thread

its funny how there are so many types of "hispanics"

blacks, american indians,cubans

that blond kid simon on show 7th heaven tv show is half cuban

is hispanic some phoeny label or something?

http://images.google.com/images?um=...=org.mozilla:en-US:official&q=David Gallagher

so whats an anglo? someone who speaks english as a first language?

nixon created all this crap

why is it funny that there are so many types of hispanics? is it just as funny that there are so many type of white folk? or is it just as funny that there are so many types of native americans?

and being hispanic myself i find your "is hispanic some phoeny label or something?" to be rude and insulting. when you say that your nephew is mexican i hope that he was born in mexico. because if not, then that statement will be most telling. having lived all my life here in texas, born and raised, whenever i stumble upon anyone who has a beef with latinos they immediately label us as 'mexicans' irrelevant of the fact that we are texans and americans.

the cooper story on cenizo is nothing more than sensationalism at a time when tensions are high and people are mad immigration in general. that community had been doing things their way for years. it wasn't something that sprung up over night. for me that is a non-issue because that is just the way things are. when you live along the border you're on your own and you only have your neighbors and your community to help you out. el cenizo did the odd thing of making spanish 'official' when everyone else down there has been doing it 'un-officially.' the federal government didn't pay attention until they got into the fence building business and the same applies for austin.

As a fan of early TV, I feel I must correct a few errors here. The Indian's name was Tonto not Tanto, 'Hi Ho Silver ...... Away' was a command used by the Lone Ranger to Silver, his horse, when he wanted to hat-up.

There ...... I feel much better now! ;)

Thank you Smelter. I'm glad that someone in this thread knows a little history. Got any silver bullets?

post any links or info

El Cenizo, a Texan border town, has a government that officially conducts business only in Spanish and has been known for flying a Mexican flag and claiming it is a part of Mexico. It is also one of many sanctuary cities harboring illegal immigrants

Hispanic label -it seems to be put on American indians from Mexico -pretty silly because they are Indians

so all people who speak English are Anglos ? well maybe, if they want to just speak Spanish?

i didnt see the Anderson Cooper story i did hear alex jones on gcnlive say they were flying only the mexican flag until a few weeks or so ago and the cops in that town were telling anglos and blacks to leave and i thought that was racist but if you dont think so and dont want to discuss that , and get sidetracked then do that -im bored replying back about texas

theres probably all sorts of towns and people in that huge state

Uh, holland the link that you used to start this thread has a youtube of the Anderson Cooper story that we've been talking about throughout this ENTIRE thread. ](*,)

Nearly 99% of the posts in this thread have been ON-TOPIC! :grrr:

Do you bother to read anything that you link to before you start any of your threads???

Well I think that mazda3boi summed up the story best:

Very nice rant. Agreed on AC360, I saw that piece and thought "lets stir the shit some more and maybe we can get some violence stories" complete shit

I never really thought of the heritage thing the way you put it and it makes sense.

Finally, never in all my days would I have dreamt of the words "FUCKBAIT IS RIGHT" being sensical and sincere.

G'night

Well, I for one, was having a good time in this thread.
But as time went on all holland did was piss off several Texans with rants of imagined stereotyping and racism. I still have no idea who you referred this to or what you meant by it.

You've been to Tiajuana and it makes you an authority on Texas and Mexico. No I don't mean that, you come across as being correct on something you that you can't explain.

All this seems to be a thread just to create havoc and you succeeded.
I for one am out of here. You can reply but I won't be here to see what it is.
tata:wave:

hell no i was there as a kid decades ago and have no desire to go to mexico until they get sane

i hear its a corrupt place lately

costa rica may be ok probably

Yeah, but I hear that Costa Rica has an immigration problem too.

Except their immigrant problems are from too many Americans flooding into the country usurping THEIR culture, and replacing their language.

do they protest and does the government listen?

Does the Government of Costa Rica listen? Yes, as I understand it there are restrictions as to what Amercanos can own, the amount of time that they're allowed to legally stay there, and other impediments. So it's not like they have an "open door" policy for American's wanting to migrate to their country.

Every now and again something will come up in the Official English Langauge Newspaper of Costa Rica: Tico Times.

Gay Costa Rica is on my list of things to do, and places to see! :D

texp what do you know of all those ex conferates that moved to brazil after the civil war? were they welcomed and how many?

Confederados? Only what I've read. From my understanding the Brazalian ruler at the time wanted to establish Brazil as a Cotton producing country, and he not only welcomed them, he provided tax breaks and incentives for them to come.

The great "Political Exodus" took place between the years 1964 and 1977 when American's "patriated" out of the United States to avoid being drafted into the Vietnam War. By most all accounts the Candadian Government welcomed the professional and academics immigrants without any problems.

But if it makes you feel any better how about one of these:
