Eli Wallach has left the stage

Just heard on the radio. He had a long run - he was 98.

He was a wonderful actor; he really shined in every role he took. There are few actors of his caliber left in Hollywood.

I first remember seeing him as Tuco in The Good the Bad and the Ugly back when I saw it in theatres in '66. Loved the movie... have it on Blu-Ray.

IMdB says that he made 3 movies in 2010. Truly amazing.

In 2005, Wallach released his autobiography The Good, the Bad and Me: In My Anecdotage. In it, Wallach wrote about his famous role as Tuco in The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, commenting that he did not realize he was going to be "blessed" with the title "Ugly" until he saw the film.

Yes, you're right.

I always got the impression he was a "supporting" actor who would be called upon to play the odd and ethnic characters, viz playing Sicilian, Russian, italian, Israeli, Cretan, Mexican, Mongolian and Malayan.

Although needless to say years before me. Eli went to Erasmus Hall Hight School in Brooklyn,NY Along with more famous people than I can mention. To name a few Barbara Stanwick, Rita Hayworth, Neil Diamond and Barbara Stresand.
