I loved her. Loved her work with HIV/AIDS. Loved her movies. Loved her ballsy take on life. Loved that she stood by Rock Hudson when so many were trashing him for getting AIDS. She was a great lady, a great person. She has left a huge streak across the world's stage.

There's a reason she's popular in the GLBT community. She showed courage and guts for her gay friends and people with HIV/AIDS at a time when most of her fellow Hollywood friends and the public recoiled at the mention of the word Aids.
Where is was bad to be seen with LGBT people. She was an amazing actress but an ever more amazing human being.

The Westboro Baptist Church plans to protest Elizabeth Taylor's funeral. Margie Phelps, the WBC's lawyer and daughter of leader Fred Phelps, announced the group's intention on Twitter. Known for their vile message of "God Hates F*gs" and policy of picketing military funerals, the "Church" now intends to disrupt Taylor's ceremony due to her ardent HIV/AIDS activism and "enabling" of gays.

Now why is that not a surprise....

Couldn't agree more. Not only one of my favorite movies of hers, but also one of my favorite movies, period. What blew me away was the fact that she was only thirty-five when she played Martha. I remember her speaking Edward Albee's words and making them sound like poetry. I think she will have given director Mike Nichols cinema immortality with her performance.

Another one of my favorites was "Taming of the Shrew"... what a combination! Franco Zeffirelli and Elizabeth Taylor. If anyone could bring blank verse to life it would have been she (and perhaps Lawrence Olivier). A classic, classic actor for the ages!
