Is it possible, and will they play when received?

If they were bought from the itunes site, no.

You, and only you will be able to play them..
The recipient will be able to receive the film, no problem - But when they go to open/play it, a message will appear informing them, that they do not have the right to play that file..

yes, but it is illegal in your country to do that, even if you just do it for yourself. long live the dmca :)

Well maybe I should explain a bit more. My partner uses a program called Finale to write classical music pieces, he would like to send MP3 files of his work to various performers who might be interested in performing his pieces. There is no intellectual copyright infringement in this instance.

If it can't be done in iTunes, how about Toast? I know it can be done somehow, because we have received MP3 files via e-mail from a friend in Holland.

Right click the file in Itunes Select "Show in Finder" then drag the file into your email from the finder window. Alternatively drag the file from I tunes to the desktop then drag it from the desktop into your email. Then delete file from desk top. either will work

Thanks Trawler69. I'll give that a try.

Another way to get around the lock on the songs you purchased from itunes is to actually burn the songs you want to send onto a blank CD, then upload those songs back onto your itunes where you will see they now have not got that little lock icon on them, and so now they can be played when you send them to someone over the email via attatchment. It may seem longwinded and you will then end up with two copies of the same song or album you want to send, but it is one way around the lock.
