Hmmm... they don't shy away from anything, do they? The clip with the guy and cysts under his arm are very graphic.

They show this on TV over here, made the mistake of watching it while eating my dinner....

It's not all extreme issues, much of it is mundane, but I think the main thrust of the programme is that no matter how embarrassed you may be about a problem - your doctor has seen it all before!

Obviously they have to have some extreme issues so that people will watch it.

How much money do I get for showing up on that show?

On the other hand, the penis episode with the hockey team was quite interesting. ;)

Anything that encourages people to go to their GP's and get themselves sorted is a good thing in my book!

I think it's a great thing. Too many people are too embarrased/prudish to talk about stuff like that even to their doctor. It gets all of this out in the open and de-stigmatizes the conditions.

I would definitely watch this if it came to the US. It actually didn't gross me out at all, I thought it was really interesting.

The show is about people going on a show so they can get free treatment for embarrassing conditions

Actually their treatment would be free anyway under the NHS.

The programme just highlights the awful state many people will let themselves get into because they are too embarrassed to see a doctor (yet, paradoxically will happily have their rancid, diseased bits shown to millions on telly. Wierd).

It's actually a great show and has probably saved many people from some nasty conditions.

That's exactly what I don't understand about Embarrassing Bodies. A lot of the people have long-standing conditions which they've been too embarrassed to go to their own doctors with, but are happy for someone to point a television camera at them and broadcast it. Just goes to show that some people really will do anything to get on TV.

I got into this show and with one look, the producers had me for the entire episode. When I took of my clothes, I was in for the entire season.

I thought that because they went on TV, the didn't have to go on the NHS waiting list and recieved free private treatment with the best doctors they could hire?

Firstly, the most disgusting thing was actually being forced to endure a minute long advert. Disgusting.

Secondly, this reminded me why I hate so many things to do with America. We don't pixellate or blur anything? Stop being so bloody prude and grow a pair. Children are gonna see things like this in their life, educate them early. It's interesting.

Embarrassing Bodies is a brilliant show, yes I do watch it mostly to be nosey and quench my curiosity, but it's actually a very good programme. There have been worse things than what you see there. Mouldy penises, women who smell of fish, rotten feet and toenails, hairy women etc...
Brilliant!
