Does anyone have personal experience with emu oil?

I'm getting a genital piercing this Thursday and the piercer suggested emu oil. Is it actually good or is it one of those overhyped things? I've never needed to use it before but I don't want to leave this piercing any wiggle room for failure.

And if anyone has any tips for the ability to move without pissing off the piercing too much while it heals I'm all ears.

The emu is a flightless bird that resembles a small ostrich. Emu oil is taken from the fat of this bird during processing. It is used to make medicine.

Emu oil is taken by mouth for improving cholesterol levels, as a source of polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fatty acids, for weight loss, and as a cough syrup for colds, H1N1 (swine) flu, and flu.

Some people apply emu oil to the skin for relief from sore muscles, aching joints, pain or inflammation, carpal tunnel syndrome, sciatica, shin splints, and gout. It is also used topically to improve healing of wounds, cuts, and burns from radiation therapy; to reduce bruises and stretch marks; to reduce scarring and keloids; to heal surgical wounds caused by removing skin for skin grafts; to reduce redness due to acne; and to soften dry cuticles and promote healthy nails. Emu oil is also used topically for athlete's foot; diaper rash; canker sores; chapped lips; poor circulation; and skin conditions, including cancer, dry skin, dandruff, eczema, psoriasis, wrinkles or age spots. Emu oil is also applied to the skin to reduce pain and irritation from shingles, bedsores, hemorrhoids, diabetic nerve pain, insect bites, earaches, eye irritation, "growing pains," and frostbite. It is used for rashes, razor burn, and nicks.
 
Thank you, but I was hoping someone who's used it will see the Q. The piercer recommended it but it's pricey at $17 for 2oz. I trust the piercer implicitly but I'd still like to hear others practical applicational experiences since usually just a sea salt soaking regimen is recommended. There's bound to be others into body mods who've used it, I'm just hoping they read the health section along with the fetish forums. I also need practical tips or advice on waddling around because piercings swell when they're first done.
 
I don't know about putting it on a piercing. Hadn't heard of that before. A friend of mine has been using it for snapping hip syndrome and it does seem to work a bit. Check the price at Walmart, it's cheaper than that.

The only issue with the cream is that it's a cream. It's not recommended to mess with fresh piercings and rubbing cream in wouldn't be possible, it's a 3 month total healing time. It's...not like piercing ears. It's essentially an ampalang, and touching trying to manipulate it for rubbing cream would be about as comfortable as rubbing the head of your cock against rough sandpaper after someone made a hole through it. I'm definitely picking up a jar for scars though, thanks! My left foot thanks you profusely.

Heh, we've a bit different anatomy. The smaller your junk is, the more sensitive it usually is cuz of nerve ending distribution. I also have more nerve endings than you do, which is rather unfortunate in this case. Minus the urethra, the wax and fine grade sandpaper can actually be pleasant - but not with a fresh wound. I admit you floored me with the firecracker though, did they light it?

(They shouldn't be using a soldering iron, the carbon on that can accidentally be left under the skin and create a tattoo like staining, among other hazards. Lazy buggers, they have steel rods for that shit, much healthier) * well, pleasant in a bdsm sense. While I'm into some gt the firecracker was more than bit much if it was lit. Eh, there's a difference between risk awareness and general fucking stupidity in sexual situations. I'll check out the links. If they were used in-scene on a body only a very, very stupid person would light them. Which, unfortunately, I can't discount.

I can say that, for me, the experience of pain in that sort of sexual situation isn't the same as unintentional pain, physically speaking. It bears little resemblance both emotionally and physical-reaction speaking to, say, someone accidentally dropping 20 pounds on your foot or suchlike. It may look similar but that's generally where it ends - the looks department.

ooooh, maybe you know where to get decent, hypoallergenic or medical grade steel hanging jewelry? Specifically jewelry hung from a bar or ring and not a post. I've got a couple websites but they don't have what I'm looking for.

As for piercing, I'd been thinking of getting a PA. Found out it would cost me $100 and would have to use titanium since I'm allergenic to stainless/surgical steel. Then I decided against it. If I was 20yrs younger...... plus, was just diagnosed with diabetes and don't want to take a chance on how it would heal.

I meant hanging jewelry. Not to do with bdsm, it's just a jewelry type/look. Could possibly modify some of the clamps on the page to work, and not bad pricing altogether. I'm continually amused at the penis pump though - break bleeder kit plus adapter is around 25, maybe 30 bucks and not the close to 90 they're claiming it is. That's normal though. The piercing cost me a hundred as well, but that's a flat fee since all her piercings are a hundred.

But yeah, definitely want to watch and see how your healing factors in life. Not diabetic myself but I hear it's often a tricksy thing to handle. I will say that for piercings and tattoos, for the people who enjoy them your age isn't a barrier.
