I am an openly nerdy guy. Until it comes to computers. One of my friends showed me a website where I could download an emulator and games. I downloaded a few of the nerdiest games around - Pokemon, and now I am wondering if there is any way I can trade pokemon across the different games on my emulator?

I doubt it, I don't think it's like Nintendo DS to where you can sync your Pokemon to different things. I do love Emulators though, when I lost my Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis having an emulator and roms was the best way to relive my childhood. :)

Would be good to know from which system to which system you want to transfer them.

I am using the emulator from coolrom.com for Gamboy Advanced, and I am playing the Ruby and Emerald versions associated with it. Not sure if that helps any. Like I said, technology isn't my strongsuit.

Not that I really care about it but I am 99% positive emulation (at least in the US) is illegal unless you physically own the game. Let's be realistic, if you are using an emulator, you highly likely don't own the game. So wouldn't posting links to where you may obtain roms be against ToS?

Admin posted the link to the Gameboy Advance emulator...Since about 80% of those games are no longer for sale at retailers it would be hard to find a physical copy of the game, unless you pay $100 dollars for it.

I never thought about this... Legal stuff isn't my strong suit either. But is emulation legal? I just looked at a few websites and some say it is and others say it isn't.

Emulation is legal, as long as you own the license for the guest system. Running roms is legal if you own the Game.

There are some cases were the copyright of the game is abandoned, in that case it doesn't matter.

maxpowr: I grew up with a gameboy, I do have a damn lot of those games in my basement. Still I use an emulator .. did you ever use one? The advantages are kinda obvious.

The emulators themselves are legal, as for the ROMs: what others wrote.
