You're right, several eyewitness accounts in a major newspaper really aren't credible compared to a video posted and filmed by a girl that yells "beat his white ass" and steals the bag of a 67 year old man. Brilliant.

That is assault by definition of law. Regardless of what was said, it is not consent, even if they were fighting words.

Is he racist? Probably. But psychopath? Dude... psychopathy isn't just a label you can just throw on anyone who does something violent. It has actual meaning, and I suggest you not throw empty words around like they're nothing. Especially when they don't even make sense in context.

Irishrugbyfan has probably only watched the video once but it takes quite a few times until you can comprehend everything that happened. From what I've gathered, EBM was talking to somebody about getting some stacy adams shoes for a funeral he was going to within the next few days and was talking about having a "brother" shoe shine them. The fifty-year-old black guy thought EBM meant "brother" as in black person but EBM meant brother as in "guy" of any race. So the 50yo says, "why a brotha gotta spit shine yo shoes?" EBM misheard that and thought the 50yo offered a spit shine so EBM asks 50yo how much for the spit shine? 50yo then repeats himself saying, "why a brother gotta spit shine your shoes?" EBM then says he's not prejudiced and that he meant brother as in a man of any race including "china men". 50yo doesn't believe him and gets pissed off and tells EBM to go to the front of the bus and get the fuck out of his face.

EBM then stands up to move to the front of the bus and says, "YOU AIN'T SCARIN' ME" repeatedly and 50yo starts threatening him. EBM then threatens him back, sits down at the front of the bus, and tells 50yo to sit his black ass down. The 50yo then walks to the front of the bus while the camera woman hurls a couple racist insults. He tells EBM to get up and fight him but EBM doesn't want to fight. However, as 50yo walks back to his seat EBM says, "I see tough guys like you an' I slap the SHIT out of 'em." The 50yo then says, "What?!" and walks back to where EBM is seated and pushes his chest. EBM then stands up and instead of pushing back and slowly starting a fight EBM unleashes his fists of fury and owns the 50yo. He then yells, "I TOLD YOU NOT TO FUCK WITH ME". At this point, 1:52, you can hear Mr. Slave from South Park say JESUS CHRIST, OH MY GOD. EBM then walks off the bus leaving his bag and proclaims it isn't his fault because the 50yo started the fight. The 50yo then stands up and quietly says that next time he will beat EBM's ass. The camera woman then takes EBM's bag to the back of the bus and says jokingly, or so it seems, "Go through that shit." The 50yo then sits back in his spot and tells them to bring amber lamps and says he wants to "kill that nigga."

Also, the camera woman was not the friend or boyfriend of the 50yo.

Basically, both of the guys are idiots. Yes, EBM moved to the front of the bus to avoid confrontation but he just taunted the 50yo from there instead so his move was rather pointless. Had he just ignored the 50yo from that point on he would've been the better man but instead he chose to contribute to the escalation of the situation and he ended up fighting. So yeah, overall I'd say they're both idiots, maybe the 50yo just slightly a bit more.

We only know what happened from the start of the recording, not what preceded it - so no one knows what happened.

But there's nothing anyone can say that justifies assault.

Ugh, I can't stand videos like this, showcasing human ignorance and stupidity, though, whoever that wretch was that was trying to instigate things even more, deserved a punch in the face too. I wish the bus driver had told all three of them to shut the fuck up or the cops will be picking them all up. The only person that was acting with some damn sense was that little old lady who was actually trying to diffuse the situation from her seat.

Exactly there was clearly a swat on EBM first. And the reason BD got beat like a bitch is that he wasn't expecting a senior to fight back. Remove colour from the equasion and it's still justified. EBM moved away, then got hit.... end of story.
