U.K. synth-pop veterans Erasure have announced the release of their next album. Due out September 23rd, The Violet Flame marks Vincent Clarke and Andy Bell’s 16th studio album to date.

Below, watch the album trailer:

The first time I heard Erasure was a number of years ago in the local second-hand CD and video store. This song was playing on the radio and it just so happened that someone who worked there knew who the group was. Not only that, he knew that they had a copy of the CD.

I bought it.

No just one, oh do you mean the PSB ?

Write a catchy fucking chorus.

No, I love the Pet Shop Boys.

I've only seen a few music videos and thought they were super gay, then again so were most SAW artists. I thought they were both gay, is the gay one the blonde?

On this day in 1992 Erasure released their UK chart-topping ABBA-esque EP, it featured covers of ABBA's Lay All Your Love On Me, S.O.S., Voulez Vous and, of course, Take A Chance On Me...

Happy 22nd Birthday to ABBA-esque!

Erasure will always remind me of my first ex , since his roommate is the one who introduced me to them. It's fine though because I still love their music. I may have to see them when they go on tour this year.

Re: Favorite Erasure song?

Picked Sometimes, but they're near enough all brilliant song.
God alone knows why they haven't been able to write a decent song in 20 years.

Blue Savannah brings back such memories of dancing under the dome at The Saint. I saw Andy perform several years ago at a local gay pride event. I think he now lives in Florida.

Erasure: Always, The Very Best Of box set review – overlooked synth-pop masters
4 / 5 stars

Any pop fan familiar with Erasure’s 1992 compilation Pop! – and if you’re not, why not? It’s the most purely distilled collection of chart-conquering synth-pop ever produced – will also be familiar with Always, The Very Best of Erasure. Indeed, the tracklisting of the first disc of this 3CD set is virtually identical, albeit with a handful of older tracks replaced by later releases, including their camper-than-Abba cover of Take a Chance On Me and 2014’s Elevation.

Erasure - Elevation

London synthpop veterans Erasure will return with their 17th (!) studio effort this spring. Titled World Be Gone, it serves as the follow-up to 2014’s The Violet Flame.

Due for arrival on May 19th via Mute, the forthcoming album spans 10 tracks and features production from the group’s own Andy Bell and Vince Clarke. It’s said to be a reflective and hopeful record focused on the present-day, “giving the world and recent political upheavals a thoughtful examination,” according to a press release.
