The UK has taken a third of the young migrants involved in the 'Your First EURES Job' programme, it has emerged.

Unemployed migrants are being given thousands of pounds to find work in Britain under an EU scheme, The Telegraph can disclose.
It has emerged that the UK has taken a third of the young migrants involved in the “Your First EURES Job” programme.
Some 1,178 unemployed young people from the Continent have been found jobs, training or apprenticeships in Britain under the “jobs mobility” programme since it was set up in 2012.

That accounted for 34.7 per cent of the 3,387 jobs handed out so far, much higher than second place Germany, which has provided 659 placements. At the same time, just 25 Britons under 30 have found work under the scheme, less than 1 per cent of the total.
The scheme offers up to €5,000 (£3,500) in relocation expenses and course fees per participant. The average cost per head of the scheme was €1,818, according to official figures.

A report into the scheme acknowledged that it was moving people from economies of high unemployment to Britain.
“The high number of placements in the UK could be due to the dynamics of the UK labour market,” it said. “A high share of outgoing job finders in certain countries (Italy and Spain) mirrors the situation of the EU labour market, as these countries have high youth unemployment rates.

"Similarly to previous quarters, the UK remains the main country of destination.”

Jane Collins, the Ukip MEP who uncovered the figures, said the scheme was a poor deal for Britain. "It is a slap in the face to the young people all over the UK who are looking for work and whose taxes have been spent making their chances of employment less likely.”

It is a smack in the teeth and its shocking stuff.

1178 European Union citizens have been employed in the United Kingdom, under the terms of the captioned EU scheme since 2012 when the scheme was initiated...that's an average of 294.5 persons per year.

I note the following paragraph in the captioned newspaper article:

EU sources said British public bodies did not take part in the scheme, meaning there was a low uptake among the unemployed in this country.

That is not necessarily an equivalent. The migrants into Britain are likely to be taking jobs away from Britons. The Britons in other countries are often affluent people looking for a warmer climate in which to retire, etc.

Just in case you overlooked the full content of previous post:

EU sources said British public bodies did not take part in the scheme, meaning there was a low uptake among the unemployed in this country.

We may draw our own conclusions, why public bodies in the UK (The Job centres, that supervise employment of the unemployed) chose not to participate in the EU sponsored scheme...nevertheless, 295 EU people per year hardly counts as significant.

Where are you from and where are you living right now maybe we should check on you. I have never heard such racist crap coming from gay people in my life. My Grandmother jumped ship in New York as her papers were not in order her husband my Grand Father already here. While not millionaire my entire family pays more tax in a week then most do in 2 months. All this crap started especially in the states where once they were2 generations away from there roots, they were against every one not born in the States. They forget they are all immigrants, only the American Native is the real thing. Of my best example St Patrick day where all sorts of ass holes consider themselves Irish because of there name and forget what Irh Americans went through just to get work and they worked hard! By the way my partner now inb England 15 years have jobs that they found no one here capable fo doing after almost 2 years of interviewing. A fault not of the UKn but of the Education System .

What he constantly fails to understand and refuses to acknowledge is that most of the undocumented immigrants in this country came during the Republican years. Since Obama took office, the multi-billion dollar fence built by Bush (and which did little to stem entry), attention to the southern border has been the focus of DHS. The entry numbers of undocumented individuals has slowed to a trickle with the exception of the surge of young people two years ago. Also missed in that surge was that they did not rush into this country -- they rushed up to the border security officers and turned themselves in to seek asylum. That's why they were such a problem -- we now have to deal with them through a LEGAL process.

He also fails to recognize that the majority of undocumented individuals today have entered on legal visas and now are overstaying the expiration limit. The northern border (with Canada) easily allows people into this country at a combined rate higher than entering the southern border. Of course, from the north, most of those people are not brown.

Really stories like this are generating xenophobia to take away the pressure on the social inequality building up in the nation. We blame everything on foreigners destroying our chances and never look at the guys at the top pulling up the ladders everywhere.

The "great cultures" of Europe have discovered birth control.

Italy has the lowest birth rate of any country on earth (less than zero population growth) but there is only one abortion to every 1,000 births in Italy, and most of those are for medical reasons. Immigration almost exactly balances the contraction of the native population (which is not likely to be coincidental), resulting in a stable population overall.

First, don't wave your finger at me. It makes a person look sophomoric. Furthermore, I have never been able to convince a moderator anywhere that I am allowed to speak truthfully about the character of a person who has none. Just because a statement is true does not mean that it is permitted.

To reiterate the same sentiments as before:

1) You are again casting migrants to your country as having less worth, as people, than those born there. This is hate speech. It is not a valid political view, but it is hate. It is disparaging the human worth of migrants to your country. You are aware that they have the same worth as yourself, ceteris paribus, and if you choose not to honor this fact, then this is an unforgivable defect in your character. As a society, we do have standards, and you are falling short if you do not honor the worth and dignity of your fellow man, regardless of his nationality.

2) When you find yourself in your time of need, do not forget that you once knocked the canteen away from the lips of those who were most thirsty, and you seem to be doing so out of the viciousness of your character, rather than out of want for yourself.

3) Your hostility toward migrants to your country is, as far as I can tell, identical to the hostility that people in my own country have toward Mexicans. I don't count them as members of the human race, so why should I count you as a member of the human race?
