Euro 2012

Rioting in Warsaw now and random attacks against Russian fans by masked Poles. Shameful!!! I was rooting for Poland but not any more. Ukraine has my vote now.

Russia are looking impressive. They won't win it, but they're playing some beautiful football.

If you call the game between Italia and Spain mediocre - how will you name the matches between England and France, between Germany and Portugal, between Russia and Czechia ?

Desastrous and unbearable? . A shame for all nations? . An imposition for every spactator?

Some press commentaries more. Again of German newspapers - who hate the Squadra Azzurra normally...

Well, I keep my fingers crossed for Germany and two of the smaller teams, like Denmark and Croatia.

And it doesn't surprise me you simply ignored a great deal of what I posted...

That goes without saying. 'cause it's a waste of time to worry about confused guys like Cassano or Balotelli. You find bums in every team, if you dig deep enough.

But I'm mainly interested in the game. Not in their lapses beneath the field. I'm no moralizer, no prosecutor. And a long-time fan of simpatico Andrea Pirlo, by the way...

´

´
Unfortunately those bums infest every part of the game.

Well, if Italy check out after the group stage - they fail mainly because their strikers did a bad job: in the first half there were chances enough to get a comfortable lead, even without Pirlo's free kick. Craotia was very harmless in the first 60 minutes, with nearly no strong chances.

And despite of his age, Pirlo still delivered one of the highest milage on the field: yesterday he was running more and had more touches of the ball than every player of Croatia.

Eaten up by envy and hate, it's obviously totally impossible for you to rate a match and some players fairly and without any prejudices. But get on with your moralising crusade - it surely has some amusement value...

................ Giovinco & Di Natale will fix it against Ireland. And Spain eliminates Croatia .. pride:

Ireland were pretty much abysmal. At least the fans had fun!

And no wonder they lost 4 nil to Spain with this carry on..

That is hilarious.

I'll have to adopt another nation now for the rest of the Euros (after the Italy game of course)

I was impressed by Pirlo, especially in the first half. In the second Italy went to one of their old tricks of trying to make the game tighter, with 2 lines of 4 deep in their own half. That just invited Croatia on to them, and that was one hell of a mistake from Chiellini for the goal.

As for Pirlo being a traitor going to Juve. I wouldn't go that far. I've always found Italian football funny, as in its difference to other nations in terms of players swapping teams for rivals. Doesn't happen often in England or Spain. In Italy, just look at Roberto Baggio..

I'm glad you've both said that about "Shrek". Whenever I hear his name and the words world-class in the same sentence I have to shake my head. He was a hindrance to the team, they played better before he came back into the side. Not that I was really bothered if England went through or not, I just wanted my Liverpool boys to do well and I think they did. Italy deserved to go through, at least they tried to win the game. They'll have to be more clinical against Germany though, otherwise they will be punished. But you never really know with football.

Balotelli missed his chances but was always a thread and played more dedicated than Cassano. I would nominate Diamanti, Giovinco, or Nocerino from the beginning instead of Cassano. And di Natale as a joker for the second half...

Germany and Portugal now with a comfortable 5-day break towards Espana & Italia with only three days - that's an advantage. And even more irksome: the winner on Thursday has only a small rest of two days... :x

´

Sucks that Portugal lost in PK! But i am proud of them, didnt see them going this far. Screw Spain and Germany... Viva Italia!!

Germany were strange, weren't they? That was so not like them, or were Italy simply so much better? They deserved to win and were certainly more clinical with their finishing this time! I too want Spain to win the final, but if Italy give a good account of themselves there is no reason why they can't take the honours. In the end I hope it's a good match and that the best team wins.

The outcome is no big surprise. Germania has not won one KO match against Italia in a major tournament for more than 80 years. Furthermore, Prandelli's tactic & line-up was superior. Löw made at least two mistakes in nominating Schweinsteiger and Podolski from the beginning - both weakended already in some matches before and were in poor form last Thursday.

The strong Marco Reus should be a regular player right from the start, no joker. And the fact that the greatest German talent of all, Mario Götze, has not one single entrance in the whole competition, well... blame the coach again. The one German player who has really shown class and dedication in the semifinal: Sami Khedira.

On Wednesday the quotas for Mario Balotelli as leading goalscorer in the end of the tournament were 45 : 1. So I invested three Euro. And the chance to get 135 out is meanwhile not so bad... (!)

Ein verdienter Sieg für Spanien. Congratulazioni.

Und for all those who might say now that Portugal was a better contender in the quarter-final: it's a big difference in a knockout-match of a tournament if you have a comfortable five-day-break - instead of only a short rest for two days.

Egal. Abgehakt. Schwamm drüber. Und Buffon & Pirlo sollen noch zwei Jahre dranhängen und ihre int. Karriere erst 2014 in Brasilien beenden....

A very enjoyable game of football and the best team won. Italy were unlucky with being forced to make a substitution through injury and then having their third substitute go off injured, but I think Spain would have still triumphed without those things happening, although maybe the scoreline and performance would not have been as comprehensive and comfortable.

RIP Miki Roque. You are not forgotten.
