Anyone in Britain/elsewhere having Eurovision parties?

Since it's Eurovision tonight, I was wondering, is anyone having any Eurovision parties tonight, or going out to watch it in any clubs/bars?. Tonight, I'm staying in, unfortunately, but, it should still be good.

Re: Anyone in Britain/elsewhere having Eurovision parties?

I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than watch that! ;)

Re: Eurovision

^ That's the first time I've seen this year's UK entry. He looks like a nice enough guy, but the song's utter crap. Should do well. ;)

Re: Eurovision

I do like Ireland, Niamh has a great powerful voice

Re: Eurovision

Romania's show was just the best..... and she's beautiful with great voice too.. :D

Re: Eurovision

Well, that was all 25 songs! :D

Hmmmm, most were rather dull and bland, to be honest. Some highlights....

A guy disrupted the Spanish entry by walking on stage in the middle of their act.

I liked the Serbian song, if only because the dancing was so comical and funny.

The British song sounded out of tune to me.

The Belgian guy was sweet. (just him and his guitar) ;)

The French had a carnival-like World Cup song. \:/

In the interval, they did this really cool thing where all these crowds in cities across Europe did the same synchronised mass-dance.

My dad and I vote seperately, so....

I voted for Iceland (a rather large lady who belted out a pop number)

My dad voted for Ukraine (a solo girl who sang an environmental song)

Right - must dash away - it's voting time.

Re: Eurovision

I actually find Germany's victory to be rather embarrassing. 'Satellite' is a pile of stinking pig's feces, and that girl Lena cannot even speak without going out of tune (unless you are deaf enough to think that whatever she was doing on stage, while hoping from foot to foot as if trying to control her bladder, could be called 'singing'). Apparently, the imposition of professional juries has contributed to improve the quality of entries ever so slightly, but the sheer tackiness of Eurofans has finally won over.

Still, I think that there were some very worthy entries this year. Armenia, Belgium, Cyprus, Romania and Russia have sent rather good songs, interpreted by actually professional singers, rather than laughable freaks... I wonder what it is about Eurovision. It's always mostly crap, and seeing how talented singers are brushed aside in favour of utter jokes is infuriating but, oh well, like a train wreck, it's impossible to keep from watching it.

Re: Eurovision

Finally, Germany won again after 28 years. Was about time after our not so good entries of the previous years. I actually thought that Lena could win, I loved her from the beginning of the German national contest because she's always stayed herself (or at least I get the impression of that). I think Satellite is a great song, too. I can't get it out of my head. :=D:

Could it be that you are from one of those countries that did not get as many points as they wanted, such as the UK? Because you sound like a bad loser if I might just point that out. I found all of last year's winner songs embarrassing, well, except for Alexander Rybak's "Fairytale". I don't think I have to mention Lordi. I still do not know how they could win the ESC. They were just AWFUL. Satellite is heaps good in contrast to them.

Re: Eurovision

^I didn't watch Eurovision but I friend in facebook talked about the guy with the beard in the french song. Now I know why

Shitty song, if you ask me, but I don't expect anything diferent of Eurovision.

Re: Eurovision

If Germany's song wasn't produced and marketed by rich sociopath Stefan Raab, I would grant them the victory.

Re: Eurovision

The reason that Germany ran away with it was because the song had been a hit across mainland Europe, and so was instantly recognisable to those voting.

As for the U.K. coming last, I still maintain that the song sounded definitely off-tune to me - like it was being sung in the wrong key. A similar problem occurred with British pop duo Jemini a few years back - and they also finished last.

Here the Icelandic song that I voted for. ..|

This is Lena's performance as winner. :D

I love how she says "Ummm yeah. I don't know where to go now, so I'm just gonna keep blabbering." (!)

:/ :/ :/ :/

I agree with you chickenguy, I thought Iceland was the best

Re: Eurovision

Pete Waterman must be absolutely fuming...

He's a grumpy old so-and-so at the best of times. Would love to have heard his reaction to the UK entry coming last! :-)

His song writing hasn't really moved on from the 80's. I loved that sound then.

Germany's winning number was quite catchy but my favourite was Iceland's.
