Re: Eurovision

I liked the Serbian song, if only because the dancing was so comical and funny.

Me 2. The guy looked rather weird and funny at the same time. He really has nice hair-do though.

Re: Eurovision

I played with the Spanish guy, Daniel, when him & I were little. My mom & his mom were friends. We lived in the same condo skyrise bldg in Madrid, Spain. My dad was stationed at the USAF base there in the late 80's - early 90's. My mom has pictures of him & I in clown custumes, he said he wanted to be a clown when he grew up. I'm having my mom scan/send me the pics. It's so cool! :)

oh, and Greece came in 6th place. I'm half Greek. :)

Re: Eurovision

Quel fromage ! LOL I just love this shit.. though personally I always think most of the numbers look and sound like outtakes from a second-rung Telethon...

Re: Eurovision

I'm very happy for Romania... their performance was smoking...
I also loved Iceland's "rather large lady who belted out a pop number" lol... :D too bad they finished 19th....

Re: Eurovision

I've always felt that songs sung in English are at a distinct advantage.

Congrats to the winner, even although that song is garbage and wouldn't sell well in NA.

Satellite - Lena Meyer-Landrut !! (Eurovision 2010)

Although not my personal favorite from this year's Eurovision, it's pretty cool...
This song is like a major hit around Europe at the moment and I was just wondering if it got any attention in the US.... I know it's not released there (YET)...
So anyone from the US, is this song getting any fuzz there?!

Re: Satellite - Lena Meyer-Landrut !! (Eurovision 2010)

Well, I'm from Canada and although the eurovision is not so popular here, I still personally follow it! That being said, I don't think Satellite will become a hit here in north america. Nothing happened when Alex Rybak won last years eurovision with 'Fairytales'.

Eurovision winners dont always become big here, unless they are from here (such as Celine Dion who won for the Swiss a couple of decades ago). Although I guess you could say Abba and even that riverdance performance from Ireland become popular over here too... even some lesser contestants who didn't win have become popular here with one hit wonders. I'm thinking Gina G's "Little Bit More" song back in 1997 when she represented the UK. That song was played alot in clubs a decade ago... so my sister says (who is 13 years older then me XD).

Anyway, in terms of this years eurovision, my personal top 5 were:

5) Albania - Its All About You (Juliana Pasha)
4) Armenia - Apricot Stone (Eva Rivas)
3) Icelande - Je Ne Sais Quoi (Hera Bjork)
2) Moldova - Run Away (Sun Stroke Project)
1) Greece - Opa (Giorgos Alkaios)

I wasn't originally a fan of Lena's Satellite, but her cute accent and light song has kind of grown on me.

Re: Satellite - Lena Meyer-Landrut !! (Eurovision 2010)

Oh yeah totally agree... She is so adorable and that video is very cute....

The reason I'm asking about this song specifically is because it already entered the charts in Australia and they're planning a release in New Zealand as well..

I guess if it's ever released in North America, it's gonna need a lot of advertising to achieve something....

Is it just me, or is North America, specifically the US, kinda hard-to-get-to for European acts...

I'm not entirely sure to be quite honest. Like I said, I'm from Canada, and, although we do tend to get a number of european acts to become popular here, especially in Toronto (I'm thinking of groups such as Basshunter, Cascada, and Inna), they USUALLY tend to be dance (especially eurodance) style artists who are VERY popular in europe... my personal experience is that alot of european music that gets big here is usually catchy and dancy, which is personally one of my favourite kinds (along with hardcore, techno, jumpstyle, trance, etc.). This was more commong in the late 90's with groups like Aqua, and Eiffel 65 (which I believe also got on the charts in the states).

I'm not saying Satellite won't come here, I just don't see it as being very likely, which is unfortunate because I tend to prefer european music and groups then the stuff we have here.. Maybe I'm stereotyping, but the U.S. seems to be stronger with its hip hop, rap, and pop (beyonce, britney spears, lady gaga, lil jon, 50 cent...you get my drift).

Re: Satellite - Lena Meyer-Landrut !! (Eurovision 2010)

I can't stand that [vulgar expression for the female sex organ]. She seemed completely drugged up and stupid on the award ceremony.

She also let her be marketed by Stefan Raab, which is not only a producer, but kind of a German How4rd St3rn and R4y Willi4m Johns0n. This [STRIKE]satirist[/STRIKE] sociopath is full of himself and has mocked and ruined the life of some other women. He's always seeking for opportunities to use other people. Either he takes video clips and exposes/mocks them, or if that person has a singer talent, he produces their music to make money, then dumps them.

No social person with morals should support that guy :grrr:

he neither dumped max mudtke nor did he dump stefanie heinzman. they are far better off than any "superstar" casting show winner. as far as i know the only person who got a real problem with him was the lisa loch girl. even that silly maschendraht lady or "ich liebe deutsche land" girl made a shitload of money with their fame.
but haters gonna hate ..

I liked her!
She's cute too!

Re: Satellite - Lena Meyer-Landrut !! (Eurovision 2010)
