Eurovision Song Contest 2023

Last years winner Ukraine can`t host due to obvious reasons
so it´s the UK - the 2022 silver medalist

I can enjoy watching and listening to unknowns giving it their best shot. I use to drive for miles to see new bands perform at out of the way venues to give them the encouragement and appreciation they needed to go on.

But those TV talent shows have way too much nonsense and fakery going on and on between performances. And ads galore! That sort of shit is why I won't have a TV in my house.

The Eurovision Song Contest is not a "talent show" it is the biggest music competition in the world,
and the upcoming 2023 Contest promises to be the most spectacular yet.
Over 200 million viewers will be watching, who cares about a vampire with pins in his eyes..?

"Eres tú" was a Eurovision song? I had no idea.

But then I was well into adulthood before I even understood that ABBA had become famous through the Eurovision Song Contest.

The sad thing is that Eurovision is needed more than ever this year.

Thank God rrrZZia is finally shot out of it.

Looking forward to see my country in a few moments. Why not vote for some uplifting beats and queer this year? The story of Gustaph is pretty special. In the year 2000 he had a national hit but decided to let go of a carreer in the spotlights since the record company obliged him to hide his sexuality. Not in a rude way of course, they simply 'adviced' him to be 'mysterious' about it. After 23 years doing backings and teaching others how to sing today is HIS moment (video from last Thursday's semi-final)

It's the Eurovision SONG Contest, the judging is in principle supposed to be on the song, not the performers.
So agree with you, I only watch my own country. As for the rest I'm just listening with the television out of my sight.

Yes, and like you said, the very next year "Waterloo" by ABBA won Eurovision 1974.

The Eurovision Song Contest is not a "talent show" ...

Agreed, no talent. ;)

Supposed to be, but the voting is geo-political as much as anything. The Scandinavians will vote for each other, so will the Baltic States, the Eastern Europeans and the Greeks and Cypriots. And, of course, now everyone will vote for Ukraine.

And I've gotten the impression over the years that people from a bunch of other countries will make a point of voting against the UK, just because.

"Britain, nul points."

Probably because their songs are almost always garbage and the performance just 'meh'?

Oh and that they think they are superior to Europe?

Maybe that.
