I'm watching the Charles Eng story on American Justice at the moment and they were just talking about Eng and his partner getting tangled up with a shoplifting charge.

It made me recall when I was working in a graphic arts shop twenty-some years ago. The guy's name was Les, and he had to go to the local Canadian Tire store during one of our lunch hours, but he didn't have a car, so I drove him there. As he was picking up whatever he went to buy, I wandered around and picked up a few things for myself, made my way through the checkout, then stood on the other side to wait for Les.

Instead of my friend showing up, I was met by 2 security guards who took me into a back room and told me that Les had been picked up for shoplifting. That surprised the hell out of me, and shocked me, too. I had no idea, and I told them so.

They were quick to assure me that I wasn't even under suspicion. They had seen us both enter and both of us were followed. I was released after I gave them my info and went back to work alone.

Have you ever been out with a friend who was nabbed for shoplifting when you had no idea he/she was doing it?
 
No. Those I'm keeping. But you can return the spark plugs and bicycle pump. They don't do what I was hoping they'd do. Besides, my Dirt Devil works just as good.
 
I don't even know how to say 'no' in Spanish. It's not a language we here up in this neck of the woods.

I was out with my new boyfriend at the time - we were followed around a store, and I just thought we were being followed by 2 other gay guys. Like you, to my surprise, I was stopped on trying to leave the store and was told pretty much the same as you were gsdx - my partner was taken into a backroom, photographed and was given a written statement banning him from the store. He was not fined as the goods that he attempted to steal were under £5.00.
My partner later told me, that he had been shoplifting for years and had always believed that he would never be caught. It taught him a lesson, and to my knowledge he never did it again.
 
No, but once, a group of friendsand I were at a location for a symposium for a group we belonged to. We walked through a mall int e area together as it was about to close and our friend jamie's shirt keep beeping. The security guard kept eying her and she tried to tell him that she didn't have anything. Everytime she went through a set of scanners, she beeped.

Eventually, Tom, our chaperon revealed that he dropped an electromagnetic tag into the hood of her hoodie. It was so funny :D
 
My friends got caught but I never was, and I was worse then they were. They got caught stealing a 40oz of beer, I got away with taking 8 of em' more times than I care to mention. I was retarded back then...
 
When i was about 15 we went to a grocery store we where planning on takeing some stuff the guard came over and i put the stuff back but my friend got caught and we all went to the security room. The guy scare us by putting handcuffs on my friend.

But a few weeks later like an idiot i was eating an open bag of chips as i was leaving the store the security guard took my upstairs and threatened to call my mother, i was scared shitless but luckily he didn't called my mom.
 
OK OK OK damn I was hoping to never have to tell this story on JUB. I was around 6 years old and went with my older brother and his friend to a grocery store. I innocently sat on the the mechanical pony ride in the front of the store while my brother and his friend procedded to steal some candy, oh the horror. Well the got busted and the store called our mother, till this day I still remeber my brother getting a serious whipping while I stood there and said I was just sitting on the pony. Oh to be an innocent six year old again. Happy now ??(picks up phone and speed dials therapist)

By all means, as soon as I say 'I'm gonna check out the beer section' just stand near the store clerk and ask a million questions about the ciggarettes behind her ..|

Can't we at least go to a store with a guy behind the counter? I wouldn't mind picking a few of his pockets.
