A while ago, I was at the gym. There was a woman with long hair. She looked straight at me and started talking very friendly. It was something random like about her day and stuff. I had no idea who she was but I was just being polite and looked straight at her while nodding my head. She kept on talking while walking a couple steps toward me. Still looking at me. Out of instinct, I said something like "yeah, me too". Turned out she had a bluetooth thing on her ear and was yapping away on the phone.

I was pretty embarrassed. Then afterward, I thought about it and was like wait a minute, that [Text: Removed] had her bluetooth thing covered up by her hair, was talking away while looking me straight in the eyes, and actually took a couple steps toward me. What the hell did she think I would do?

Ever had this or something similar happen to you? Were you embarrassed or annoyed?

yes, thats happened. They look at you, Im ready to respond and I realize the real situation

I think the cab driver is asking me a question (like where am I going) and he is on the phone (in his ear).

The correct response is to look her in the eye and begin loudly answering her conversation.

Or, if you're not that bold, put your hand to your ear and start your own loud conversation near her.

She was rude.

You live in a place where the gyms have opened? Or maybe they never closed? It's been maybe 6 month since I've done deads or squats with anything approaching the weight I used to use. Man, do I miss the gym!

I get annoyed by those having 1/2 of a personal conversation within ear shot of others. It's rude.

Yes, as I walk around the block I've been about to say hi! to people as I pass them and then realize that they are on the phone in their ear or sometimes have music in their ear. They normally aren't looking at me and it hasn't been embarrassing yet.

Only when someone said 'I love you'.
