Death threats over a drawing? And people wonder why so many are turning their backs on religion these days.

Quite honestly it doesn't matter if it was a muslim death threat, Jewish or Christian either because it was in the name of this faceless "God" creature they all share so much love for. Shame they can' share that same love to their fellow man.

A small minority of extremist Muslims makes death threats, so let's offend ALL Muslims as retribution! Great idea.

The name is originally written in the Arabic alphabet, not the Latin alphabet. Transliteration is never exact, so there are often variations in "English" spellings of Arabic words.

This is a horrible idea! As a Muslim (a gay one, I know) I find this kind of disrespectful. Why would someone purposely want to do something they know is prohibited by someone else's religion?

The fact that she is placing people's right to express themselves above the rules of a religion are stupid.

I am deeply offended by this and have absolutely no respect for this stupid woman.

...Why are you implying that Muslims are silly?

And no one gets jealous because there is already a portrayed image of Jesus; weather it's real or not is another story.

The fact that she is placing people's right to express themselves above the rules of a religion are stupid.

No. It is not.

1. I'm not going to stand up for two rich straight jews.
2. I'm not going to stand up for the hypocritical first amendment.
3. I'm not going to stand up for the christian religion which most participants probably secretly are.
4. I'm not going to stand up for a capitalistic company like Comedy Central.

"That's a cartoonist's job, to be non-PC."
That woman better shut her mouth or just speak for herself.

I practice the first amendment by drawing what I wish.
#-o seriously, shut her mouth.

The fact that she is placing people's right to express themselves above the rules of a religion are stupid.
And you get a facepalm too from me: #-o

I am all for freedom of speech but the approach is misguided.

To deliberately do something you know to be offensive to an entire section fo the community is just plain wrong.

Absolutely disgusting idea. Reeking of hatred and prejudice.

Let's be clear here.

There have been phases of Islamic religion where the prophet has been portrayed.

I know this.

I have seen some of these representations.

If this is about idolatry, then what are we to make of a religion that venerates relics and the tombs of the descendants of Mohammed. Is this also not false? I think so. This is the type of relationship of man and God that he counselled against.

But it is human nature to want a tangible connection between them and their particular god. There is a hunger to feel that you have touched god through the representation of the intermediary. As though a picture or a bit of bone can be imbued with holiness.

If you as a muslim choose not to imagine your prophet in representational form. Fine.

In the same way that some christian sects will have no representation of Christ or any figure in their church. This doesn't prevent other christian sects from having these icons in their church.

Me drawing him is not an insult. It is my right.

If I wish to draw anything on earth or in the heavens, even if it is my own imagining, it is my right.

It is your right not to look at it.

Me going to hell because I don't follow your faith is my problem not yours.

I find it fascinating that a religion based on a more metaphysical relationship with God is so fixated on the corporeal man. I see nations like Iran use their spiritual leaders as iconography with representational art all over the fucking place. What am I supposed to make of this?

Mohammed did not prohibit his own likeness. The guidance on portraying human or animal representation is much broader. When Islamic fundamentalists stop using human representational art in all its forms within the religious cum political sphere, then they can bitch and moan about others doing it.

I'll still exercise my right to do it though. Because I'm not a fundamentalist. For any religion.

I think Muslims know that, but there's a difference between accepting criticism and accepting insults.

yeah

it apply ta every person on planet too or can say prisoner ofs their countrys lunacy ans historicals barking lunacy what spill out all time fa them what got country

got make so hard them what busy in theirs a countrys tryin ta bring human race up ta just tiny bit lunacys

Creative, innovative, and stupid at the same time. --'

I remembered the so-called popular Jesus-colouring books back in my toddler era #-o

To show them that not everybody (i.e. non-Muslims) feels bound by the arbitrary rules made up by a schizophrenic (heard voices compelling him and "saw" angels) desert nomad with penchant for pedophilia (had sex with a 9 year old) and mass murder (killed entire populations that didn't buy his bullshit). I also find it interesting and saddening that you have figured out the idiosyncrasy of being a gay Muslim yet still are one.

The fact that she is placing people's right to express themselves above the rules of a religion are stupid.

No it is emphatically NOT! Religious people (and it seems Muslims especially) seem incapable of figuring out the fact that Free Speech and Expression is a Universal Human Right, but that their precious "Holy Books" matter only to them.

I am deeply offended by this and have absolutely no respect for this stupid woman.

Well boo-fucking-hoo! Just as long as you stay offended and don't decide to go murder the woman, as some of your coreligionists are undoubtedly planning to do, that is perfectly fine by me.

An event like "Everybody Draw Mohammed Day" is necessary because there are people who are willing to kill because of a FUCKING CARTOON and that the best weapon to combat these barbarians is ridicule (and IMO firearms). It is also necessary to show people like you who empower the above mentioned barbarians by making excuses for them how little we care about their petty sensitivities.

Ah, religion! We don't have to scratch deep to start a fight. Once it mixes with politics it tends to bring violence. Too much emphasis on being right as opposed to being content.

It has never been about offending muslims, it's about taking a stand against the insane notion that death is a justifiable punishment for simply drawing a picture.

taking a stand ?

every time countrys takes stand any blip pop up keep people entertain lots end up dead what no idea what on top ten list things ta do
