Re: Everybody from England, Canada, Australia, & the Netherlands is a bunch of asshol

Yep - you're probably right. But try drinking some water now and again.

Re: Everybody from England, Canada, Australia, & the Netherlands is a bunch of asshol

I think some Americans here are showing exactly why the rest of the world hates us. By saying that a country is just a "blip on a radar" just makes us look like assholes....I for one DO NOT feel that way.

Give me a break. Are you for real? I think calling a country a 'blip on a radar' pales in comparison to some of the things people in other countries here have called the USA and even Americans.

Re: Everybody from England, Canada, Australia, & the Netherlands is a bunch of asshol

Its not the name of being called a "blip" which is insulting to people, and gets them pissed off.

Its the ignorance of other countries and their involvement in the world outside of your borders.

Why are you assuming that "other countries" (I wonder who you are refering to?) are ignorant to the world outside their borders?

Re: Everybody from England, Canada, Australia, & the Netherlands is a bunch of asshol

Elvin, I'm gaining more and more respect for you each day. What you have said isn't contributing to this verbal 'war' something we have way too much of in any form. Congrats.

Re: Everybody from England, Canada, Australia, & the Netherlands is a bunch of asshol

You mentioned historical events... but America is not the reason those things are as they are now... you're misguided.

You want national pride for Americans...

  1. Putting a Man on the Moon.
  2. Ongoing Space Missions
  3. Development of the Aeronautical Industry

Things like that are achievements.. America on its own did not change or DO any of the things you mentioned.

Not, you clearly need to brush on your history. Use Wikipedia or a professional search engine.

PS: I don't need pen pals. But it's a shame you don't even know your own history.

Did you do those searches I asked you to? Exactly where did the uk come in there on those topics? Well maybe they did send food rations to our military as we used precision guided bombs to weaken Milosevic's government.

Re: Everybody from England, Canada, Australia, & the Netherlands is a bunch of asshol

Where the fuck did you get anything about penpals from???

Also.. how can you sit there and tell me i know fuck all about my history.. when this thread isnt about my history... ive not said anything about the history of the UK, our Empire or where we came from... so i've got to ask.. in typical Yorkshireman Fashion:

WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!?

It's what you're talking about. I made a statement on the things America has done to better the world. You like the Australian poster got your feelings hurt, and out of ignorance on the topic tried refuting something that I factually stated concerning Milosevic and American intervention leading to his downfall.

Please... get over your insecurities. I think America is the best country for the reasons I listed in the post that you got bitter over.

LMAO, I didn't say you didn't know anything about UK history. I was saying you need to re-read European history, especially European contemporary history. Please read slowly, because in fact the uk is in Europe last time I checked, thus making European history YOUR history.

Please, read a book every now and then. Those things with pages and pages of paper with writing on them won't bite you. I promise you.

Re: Everybody from England, Canada, Australia, & the Netherlands is a bunch of asshol

I don't like the direction this is going. Isn't this thread violating the Geneva Convention? Where's Henry Kissinger when you need him?

Re: Everybody from England, Canada, Australia, & the Netherlands is a bunch of asshol

What are some of the things that other countries call us?
Are you telling me that us Americans are innocent in putting other countries down?
Ponder for a sec...Do you really think we have a right to go invade other countries that have never attacked us? How do you think that makes us look to the rest of the world?
And then to go and say that other countries are just blips doesn't exactly make us look that good, does it?

Are you serious? I don't think anyone has said America is innocent. But you ponder for a second, why is it always America that catches the criticizing end of the stick? For as long as I've been here on JUB, I don't think I have once encounter one thread that puts down any other country. It's always the USA. It gets old, fast. And you know what makes me mad the most? It's Americans like you who join the bandwagon. There are many, many, many things to criticize the US over, but I don't know one place on earth that's perfect and free of fault. I'll ask you some questions? Do you think its ok for the US to be the only one to be criticized (rightly I do believe) for invading Iraq. The UK joined right along. So did Italy, Australia, and others. But yet, the US is the only country seen more dangerous than North Korea and Iran. The US is the one seen hell bent on ruling the world. Do you think it's right for the US to be the only ones to be criticized for not ratifying the Kyoto Protocol? China didn't. Australia didn't. Are they being criticized? No. But yet Americans are seen as the ones who don't care about the environment.

As I said before the US has a lot to be criticized over, but so do a hell lot of other countries. Are you criticizing them?

Re: Everybody from England, Canada, Australia, & the Netherlands is a bunch of asshol

Oh dear, I hoped at least that people would understand I was being ironic.

I took the liberty to add the "satire" icon to your first post so that your intentions would be even clearer.

For a moment there I thought we were going to have to issue a red alert. :)

Re: Everybody from England, Canada, Australia, & the Netherlands is a bunch of asshol

You're really not that bright are you BMA1983? re-read the sentance i wrote!

OK, in my hast in trying to respond I misread what you wrote. And I do apologize. I never claimed to be perfect. But you calling me stupid just goes to show that you're a pompous wanna be know it all who likes to put down others.

And people have the nerve to call Americans stuck-up.

Re: Everybody from England, Canada, Australia, & the Netherlands is a bunch of asshol

Ok.. Kosovo War.

It was led by NATO, under a UN resolution... USA was the main force.. but they did not do it as Americans.. they were a member force of NATO..

So your argument mate that it came about as a result of American actions.. is in fact...

LMAO, backing off now... you should brush up on your history before you post about contemporary European history.

Being realistic, NATO wouldn't have done shit in Kosovo. It was truly America that lead this campaign in the Balkans.

Ok.. Kosovo War.

It was led by NATO, under a UN resolution... USA was the main force.. but they did not do it as Americans.. they were a member force of NATO..

So your argument mate that it came about as a result of American actions.. is in fact...

COMPLETE UTTER FUCKING BOLLOCKS

I guess you're one of the people who beleives firmly that the USA won WWII all by itself aren't you?

Or that the USA is the only country to figure out how to fly?

Or that the USA did in fact find the Enigma machine and break the code?

Fucking tosh... complete utter fucking tosh.

You make me laugh lostlover... in your argument.. you are actually doing yourself a dis-service and playing straight into the hands of those people who do call Americans assholes... cos to be honest buddy.. thats all you're coming across as.

I copied and pasted this just FOR YOU:

"NATO's bombing campaign lasted from March 24 to June 11, 1999, involving up to 1,000 aircraft operating mainly from bases in Italy and aircraft carriers stationed in the Adriatic. Tomahawk cruise missiles were also extensively used, fired from aircraft, ships and submarines. The United States was, inevitably, the dominant member of the coalition against Serbia, although all of the NATO members were involved to some degree — even Greece, despite publicly opposing the war. Over the ten weeks of the conflict, NATO aircraft flew over 38,000 combat missions. For the German Air Force (Luftwaffe) it was the first time it had participated in a conflict since World War II. In addition to airpower, one battalion from the US Army's 82nd Airborne Division was deployed to help combat missions. The battalion secured Apache Attack helicopter refueling sites and a small team forward deployed to the Albania/Kosovo border to identify targets for Allied/NATO airstrikes.

The proclaimed goal of the NATO operation was summed up by its spokesman as "Serbs out, peacekeepers in, refugees back". That is, Serbian troops would have to leave Kosovo and be replaced by international peacekeepers in order to ensure that the Albanian refugees could return to their homes. However, the summary had an unfortunate double meaning which caused NATO considerable embarrassment after the war, when over 200,000 Serbs and other non-Albanian minorities fled or were expelled from the province. It was also suggested that a small victorious war would help give NATO a new role. Propaganda terms "humanitarian bombing" and "humanitarian war" were employed by the politicians.

The campaign was initially designed to destroy Serbian air defences and high-value military targets. It did not go very well at first, with bad weather hindering many sorties early on. NATO had seriously underestimated Milošević's will to resist: few in Brussels thought that the campaign would last more than a few days, and although the initial bombardment was more than just a pin-prick, it was nowhere near the concentrated bombardments seen in Baghdad in 1991 and 2003. On the ground, the ethnic cleansing campaign by the Serbians was stepped up and within a week of the war starting, over 300,000 Kosovo Albanians had fled into neighboring Albania and Macedonia, with many thousands more displaced within Kosovo. By April, the United Nations was reporting that 850,000 people — the vast majority of them Albanians — had fled their homes."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Allied_Force

The NATO bombings lead to Milosevic's downfall. Look at the types of bombs that were sent into Yugoslavia; "Tomahawks", American made and engineered cruise missiles. Those weren't French or british or German bombs.

The bolded words are not my words.

That's straight from Wikipedia and if that's not good enough try using Lexis-Nexis* which will give you a similar historical account of the situation.

Don't talk out your ass and act like you're speaking facts.

Case closed.

Re: Everybody from England, Canada, Australia, & the Netherlands is a bunch of asshol

Because we go around thinking we are #1 and that everybody else is just a blip. We want to be #1 and that comes with criticism.
Exactly what bandwagon am I joining here? I don't have the right to criticize my own country? If we were so righteous we would be fighting wars in Africa were more people are doing in a week compared to the number of people that have been killed in Iraq since Sadaam.
Do you think that we had a major international team going into Iraq? No, we didnt. The goverments that joined us did it for financial gain or were deceived into joining us.
Are you telling me that we had a "right" to go into Iraq? You don't feel duped at all?
Yes, I will criticize other countries when they go and deceive and invade another country just for financial gains.
But really, my point here was to criticize the goverment and the people that go around calling other countries "blips". That's all.

So what if people in the US go around thinking they are number one. There are people in Canada who think they are number one. There are people in Britain who think are number one. There are people in Australia who think they are number one. Who cares? It’s called national pride. That is not a good enough reason for people to start hating the US. (I'm not saying you hate the US.)

I don't know about you, but I don't like it when people start talking about people in my family. I am gonna defend my family. I will let people in my family know that when they do something wrong they are wrong and should rectify the situation. But I will not start joining people outside of my family in criticizing them. That's how I feel when I encounter threads like this. The USA is my country, my home. And despite its faults, I’m proud of what the USA has accomplished and recognize that the USA is not filled with stupid hateful people the world seems to believe. When I realize the USA has done something wrong (like Iraq, gay rights, etc.) I will make my voice heard when I disagree. But I will not join people in other nations in criticizing my country when they do it with hate and stuck-up attitudes. When they do it just to find fault.

You keep bringing up Iraq. The world’s dislike of the US began way before Iraq. But I’ll answer your questions:

Do you think that we had a major international team going into Iraq?
What constitutes a “major international team”? I think the UK, South Korea, Poland, Australia, and others do make up a major international team. That’s my opinion. What difference does it make if these countries joined for money. If anything that should make them look bad; joining a war for profit. But as I said before, it seems the USA is the only country seen as the evil one in the whole group.

Are you telling me that we had a "right" to go into Iraq?
When did I say or imply this? No we didn’t.

You don't feel duped at all?
To be honest no. I never really believed Bush to begin with. You can’t be duped if you don’t believe.

Yes, I will criticize other countries when they go and deceive and invade another country just for financial gains.
I hope you will with the same intensity others like to criticize the USA with.

Re: Everybody from England, Canada, Australia, & the Netherlands is a bunch of asshol

As a Canadian I hate to inform you that with our innate inferiority complex there are No Canadians that think we are # 1, and I will apologize profusely as any good Kanuk will do if I have offended you.......lol

Re: Everybody from England, Canada, Australia, & the Netherlands is a bunch of asshol

I think you are all a lot of old tarts & I should throw a bucket of cold water over the lot of you!!!!but it has been good for a laugh....cheers:kiss:

Re: Everybody from England, Canada, Australia, & the Netherlands is a bunch of asshol

Our educational system doesn't much mention Wales. Sorry. Britangelina takes too much of our attention, I guess.

Well, my comment is this:
America is the spare parts of a lot of countries. A nation of nations.
They were attracted here partly by the Freedom to Be...
They were also attracted here by the opportunities to speculate economically.

You could say we are a nation of gambling misfits that are too busy to notice the effects of what we do with our "freedom." But before you condemn us for that, remember that We're Brits, we're Dutch, we're Italians, we're Slavs, we're Welsh, we're Scandinavians, we're pirates, we're good-guys, we're nearly everyone else, ... we're your cousins.

But actually, I give Europeans credit for knowing that most of the time. I would wish that the consciousness of our kinship worked both ways more.

America is in the throes of a disinct phase of political maturation.
A class of our populace which has been very Local until recently has awakened to the bigger aspects of politics. This is a big reason for the kinder-politik as I tend to think of it. Every nation goes through it. There is, I think we all need to see, kinder-politik on the Left as well as on the Right.

Now don't just give me the silent treatment, again.

Re: Everybody from England, Canada, Australia, & the Netherlands is a bunch of asshol

The bottom line will always be America is the world's greatest and only power who is trust worthy. Even the dastardly French will come running when they are forced to wear burquas. It does not pay to debate with gutter trash of world politics - every thing will eventually surface where the slime over powers and chokes - I hope that this time the isolationists win - and we see the Europeans cleaning toilets in Morocco.

Re: Everybody from England, Canada, Australia, & the Netherlands is a bunch of asshol

I mean we have a lot of "alternative-universe" European-Americans, you know??

Re: Everybody from England, Canada, Australia, & the Netherlands is a bunch of asshol

Goodness. Can't we all just get along? ;)

Let's face it, being an asshole is not completely dependant on what your nationality may happen to be. Being an asshole is really just part of being human. ..|

Re: Everybody from England, Canada, Australia, & the Netherlands is a bunch of asshol

hmm...joelife baby there got real pissy, i mean real pissy with me 'cause i bad mouthed the queen of england earlier. y'all brits really like the bitch that much?

Goodness. Can't we all just get along? ;)

Let's face it, being an asshole is not completely dependant on what your nationality may happen to be. Being an asshole is really just part of being human. ..|

i agree...can't we all just agree that it's really the welsh and french that suck? peas in a pod those peopes!

Re: Everybody from England, Canada, Australia, & the Netherlands is a bunch of asshol

I never really cared about what other countries think of America. A lot of it's based on jealousy, truly.

Why do Americans always think that people from other countries are jealous of them ? Based on what ? Any polls ? Any research done ? Is it because you Americans have big houses, big cars, big buildings, big movie stars, big wallets filled with dollars ?

We truly are the best country in America. Without us the Germans wouldn't be the economic powerhouse of Europe (mostly through the Marshall Plan) and Japan wouldn't be having the one of the highest per capita GDPs in the world. Without us Milosevic would probably continue his ethnic cleansings and western Europe would be speaking German.

Yes, and without the French, you would be speaking English with a British accent. Go back to your history book b/c by the time the Americans intervened, Germany was losing the war. Stop rely on those Hollywood movies.

Kuwait would have been a province of Iraq and more than likely Russia would still be a communist country.
Then why doesn't your country do something for Darfur, or Palestine, or countries that don't have oil ?

Yeah, but look at your education system, your healthcare system. I mean, for a country that is considered to be the wealthiest, most advanced in the world, it can not even take care of its own people if they don't have insurance. An average high school student always ranks below students from other parts of the world. They cannot even tell where continents or countries are located if presented with an empty map. When you study History, you only study American history, but not that of the world. You don't know anything about Geography. When I traveled in your country, an American engineer actually asked me if Singapore was a city of Beijing. He thought Beijing was a country... Your people sue for money like there is no tomorrow. You only have on average 2 weeks of vacation per year. You eat for 3 persons and look like it. Unlike in some European countries, gay people don't have the same rights as others even though your Constitution says that All Men Are Created Equal. People start praying for God when they see nudity on screen.

I can go on and on. The point is, there are good things and bad things in America but I wouldn't call it the BEST country to live in. Stop bragging how great America is and stop saying how other countries are inferior.

I mean, I really wouldn't want to live in the uk, because of bad weather and not even France which is where I was this summer. They don't even pick up after their dogs defecate in the streets. I have so many relatives in Nice and Marseilles trying to make their way here, even if an idiot like Le Pen is bashing America because he's just showing his own insecurities.
Look who's talking ?

I wouldn't mind living in Australia or maybe a small European country like the Netherlands or Sweden but they're a blip on the international radar.
So, are you telling us that you'd like to live in a country where you'd be recognized everywhere you go ? As what ? The biggest queen of them all ? The greatest movie star in the universe ? So what if a country is small ? Too small for your furniture and your Versace wardrobe ?

So I guess by default, America is the place to live STILL even after Bush's awful time in office.
