While acknowledging that "Christians and our institutions have too often scandalously failed to uphold the institution of marriage," the group rejects same-sex marriage. The declaration states that opening a legal door for gay marriage would do the same for "polyamorous partnerships, polygamous households, even adult brothers, sisters, or brothers and sisters living in incestuous relationships."
"Throwing it back at them" just exacerbates the problem, although I really do understand the emotions backing that because I've had them, too. Strong feelings of wanting to do to them what they've done to others. I really do get that, but it doesn't actually solve anything. All it does is perpetuate the hate. Hate cannot be absolved by more hate.^
I'm using terms that they use and throwing it back at them, hopefully, encouraging people to question how much they allow that word to manipulate them.

While I think they're viewpoints are mistaken I think it's dangerous to call them "evil". By doing that you're dehumanizing them and opening the door for directing hatred toward them. That never ends well.
How is the application of the concept of evil in this specific instance helping to solve the problem at hand? From where I'm sitting it looks like it's just creating more problems. These are the same people who are declaring bankruptcy in order to avoid lawsuits after which they would undoubtedly be paying out millions of dollars to all the young boys their priests abused over and over again. As much as they try to play it down and ignore it, that is 'evil'.
So much for 'casting the first stone', huh?
